I used to be a staff member at Megaplex, down in Orlando, Florida. For two years (starting with Megaplex 3 in 2004), I was the scheduling coordinator, then for the following three years, I still did the badge art. All this while still paying for a membership (mostly because I still wanted to be a financial contributor, despite already having access just due to being a staff member).
Megaplex isn't even that big of a convention, and yet being the scheduling coordinator was sheer, unmitigated hell for me. Doing the badge art was a lot easier, but by Megaplex 8, that duty went back to the guests, so I kinda lost my job with the staff. That was actually something of a relief for me, honestly.
