Bug: 500+ replies in PM thread breaks it

Hi everyone

Thanks to a bug report by
mobkiller
mobkiller
we have discovered a problem with very very long Private Message threads.

If you have a Private Message thread with over 500 replies, then you and the recipient will be unable to continue replying to that thread.

There is no error message and it just silently fails, which means you may think you have sent a reply but the other person will never have received your reply. You may also notice your reply is never added to the thread and is not showing up in your Sent Mail box.

The recipient may receive an email copy of the reply (if they have this enabled) but when they try to find it in their Private Messages inbox on Inkbunny, it just isn't there (and the link in the email goes to a non-existent broken private message ID).

This bug is fixed in the next site update which should be released in the next few weeks.

In the meantime the solution is to start a new Private Message thread when you reach about 500 replies.

Thanks!

IB

Hehe, I think Bosky and I ran into this a bunch of times! But that's what happens when you use IB hardcore. I love the site as is but I'm glad you found a way to fix it, congratulations!

On that note, could we have the before-last item expanded too? (Or, even better, up to and including "my own last message").

Eg. I'm having a conversation with you, I see my first message (for what), collapsed items, and a reply from you that I don't really know what it's a reply to.  I have to expand the entire PM thread just to see the relevant parts.

So I guess the best would be M – (collapsed messages) – M – Y – Y – Y or maybe not even showing the first item (chances are, nobody cares about that later in the thread)

I'm sorry beforehand because this will be the wrong place to post this. I do this only because I can't find the right place to post/ask about thre subject and can't locate info on the subject.

I tried even a google search but couldn't find anything.

When is the sales system coming back online?

That must be one long conversation to go over 500. XD
