Yes I would with all my heart. Do I want to die? The answer is no but if its my life or killing/maiming someone who is not threatening me I'll take death. Now if I have a reason to stay alive, such as defending my home from a robber then I would not hesitate to attack with the intent to kill even if it costed my life.

Extreme amounts of pain to myself unless that other person deserved it. (by people that deserved it, I mean along the lines of rapist or mass murderer). Plus it depends on the pain. Is the pain life threatening?

If the other person deserved to die then so be it. If they were innocent, I would rather die. It all depends on the situation, hun...

Would I kill? Someone guilty or evil? Yes.
Innocent? No
Would inflict pain on myself? only if It meant the protection of someone I loved dearly. For a stranger, no.
Would I inflict harm on another: not on someone i loved, never. A stranger? I'm not sure... I would like to think not.

How far would I go to save my own life? Depends on the situation. If my life was being threatened and it was. A matter of killing then to stay alive or me, then I would probably kill them. However if I was up against a friend of mine or family, I would let them kill me because I don't have it in me to hurt people I care about. If it wasn't a matter of me or them or my life was in danger than I wouldn't do anything to them.

If it was a matter of someone I love, friend family or a child who I may or may not know being put in a life or death situation and the only way to save them was to kill someone, than I would. If I needed to only.

In the event that it was saving someone I love from someone I love, I don't think I have it in me to kill them. I would probably just inflict serious pain causing them to be incapacitated for a bit till the police came.

If I had to chose my live vs another's who could live a better life than me, I would save then even if it meant killing me.

If I saw a stranger in a position where they would be killed if no one saved them, I would step in because I don't value my life any better than a next persons unless I am in imminent threat.

I could never torture or inflict pain on a person just cause

After reading the first couple dozen responses, I'll just say I don't know. I need to actually be in the situation to find out. I'm self centered enough, I probably wouldn't do anything to hurt myself, and given the opportunity to talk to those in pain, I'd say 'I'm glad I'm not in your position. Sorry.' Depending on the specifics, I might. Maybe to save a life. Maybe. I dunno. Still probably not.

I forgot the self inflicted pain.  to save my life, I'd probably do whatever.  except I have a few phobias, my nerves might not let me stay conscious through the attempt.  if it's to save my own life, yeah, I'd probably do it, if I'm able to physically do it.  if someone else's life is on the line, however...I answered that already.

Now if I know the person, I might inflict pain on myself.  depending on the person, varying degrees.  but if I'm in a maze set up by Jigsaw, with full knowledge of their misdeeds, yeah, probably not.  I'd probably 'give it my best shot' in case there are cameras, but end up 'whoops, I screwed up, NOOOO!' . o O (that should be convincing enough for 'em.)

if I had to put myself through a painful trap to save my own life, barbed wire maze, pit of needles, I'd hopefully have time to pause and think things through.  I like puzzles, so the whole 'all the keys are the same' first one from...Saw V, I think?  would maybe be easy enough to figure out.  then again, in the 'hide from the bombs' next room, I'd be the one guy left outside getting blown to bits.  unless I find a key first, and I'd offer someone to share my hidey-hole, which was the point.  I'd give a 'quick, get in here', but giving huge amounts of blood?  I find that a little much.  Which, if there's no body left in each room, wouldn't have been so bad on them all.

that was a bit of a tangent.  but there you go.
