FA has some good art there occasionally, but that's like saying all the muck at the stables could still be used to fertilize the fields. It stinks to wade through it all and in the end you get very little useful stuff. The stench there being the whole ruleset.

If only it were a simple, innocent case of the rules being hard to follow. But no, it's more than that: lies, obfuscations, incompetence, and a calculated campaign to pump-and-coast through disaster after PR disaster that any hackneyed 3rd world dictator would be proud of.

It's so funny and kind of sad now that the only defense that can be mustered for this clusterfuck of mismanagement is property law: It's Our Website And We Can Do What We Want. Except Dragoneer never says that- he doesn't have to, he's got plenty of people in every corner happy to do that for him, not realizing that they then give him the moral authority to insist somehow that they're all being more than fair and really sympathizing with your plight.

It's an unfortunate reality, some people don't know the difference between reality and fantasy. It's not just limited to FA or even to furrydom either. I was on Fetlife for a while and one of the things that wound up turning me off was people talking about Ageplay and Incest Roleplay as if it was avocation of child abuse.

The thing that I'm expecting hilarity with is the fact that it's against the Terms of Service to link to art that violates the AUP. What this rule was written to stop aside (Though it's pretty dumb in itself if you ask me), there is an entirely legitimate reading of that rule that says since I have cub art in my Inkbunny account, I cannot link my IB account in any capacity on my FA account.

Also, you know what really pisses me off about this? I really like Inkbunny and want to see it do well. But to do that, we need a lot of mainstream furry artist over here doing all sorts of furry art, not just cub and not just porn. But every time FA pulls shit like this, cub artists come over here and set up shop. Clearly I have nothing against cub art, but whenever this crap happens more cub artist come over and there is more and more stuff for people who don't like Cub Art to point at when they say "Ink Bunny? You mean that place they set up for all those perverts who like to watch six-year-olds with fox heads hump?".

The art is really good, the moderation is understated and controlled. The community is decent. But no one takes InkBunny seriously because they came about right before the Cub Ban went into effect and had the good fortune of not banning cub porn. The only way to remove, or at least blunt the cub-porn association is to get a lot of popular, talented artists posting here regularly so that people can see that it's not just cub art that gets posted here.

To bronies, this situation is oddly familiar.
People always think of cloppers when they think of bronies, and this pisses me off.
Not because I dislike cloppers (It's just R34 of My Little Pony, and R34 of every single thing exists, even of the Game Grumps aka JonTron and EgoRaptor!), but because I hate it when people state factually wrong things.
Whether someone tells me that Minecraft's graphics are made of voxels or that bronies are, and I quote, "horsefuckers", my reaction is roughly the same.
I try to stay calm and bring up facts, but if they stay on their point of view for no logical reason, I explode in a wave of anger and heat.
It's a part of me that I hate myself, and what irritates me that I am usually a very introverted person, but once somebody manages to piss me off, I become as easily handle-able as nitroglycerin.
However, if I end up saying rude things and he/she doesn't deserve it, I apologize for it.

Oh, and what I also tend to do when someone brings up a topic that I can relate to, I end up writing a whole essay that would make Yahtzee hide in shame.

I can't wait till more artists get scared over here too, the only reason I haven't abandoned FA completely is because some artists I like seem to either only have an account on FA, or they might have accounts here (or other sites, but i prefer this one) but they either rarely or never update it.

From what I read they've been getting a ton and a half of tickets to take down people's artwork here and there. And instead of investigating it, and trying to see why they should, they just do it anyway so they don't have to listen to so many damn watchers complain, bitch, and moan. As far as I'm concern, fuck FA if they're not going to do their job properly, and send all the other members from FA to here!

It's funny. As I was reading all of this I couldn't help but think to how submissions, and messages are handled here. And how much prettier the background is over that rather depressing background at FA. That alone just makes this place seem more functionally nice, than FA. Of course then I also realize that I have had more enjoyment in my few months here than I have had in all my years at FA. Eh, just seems like people should make the switch for a nicer looking and better laid out website as well.

How so? He finally admitted the cub ban was because of *HIM*. not Paypal, not AlertPay. He claims now that the ban was because of his own personal feelings on cub porn, when he previously stated it was problems with payment processing. Just a lot of contradictory statements and actions surrounding adminship and AUP additions as of late.

The whole Alertpay thing was likely triggered by Insane Kangaroo. He was boasting of it back in Furry Drama 2, a Livejournal community I used to frequent before I found it counterproductive (only increases drama and bad feelings). I took great pride in railroading him out of the community for it (not alone, of course). But during the time, Dragoneer was right there trying to set the record straight. Alertpay was a major factor. Oh, he'll talk about how he was considering it and that was the thing that pushed him to do it as a way to water it... but the fact is, the Alertpay thing is pretty much what triggered it.

Way to try to rewrite shit Dragoneer. My respect for him drops another notch.

And as of this posting, FA is once again non-functional. Whether it's a DDoS attack or just someone tripped on a power cord, the fact remains that I'm getting unending gateway timeouts. IB doesn't have the same problem of randomly breaking that way, although it doesn't have the degree of traffic FA does.

Hmn. Perhaps this is what happens when you give many many artists vague criteria on what to delete, and threaten them with banning if they miss anything. Lots of people deleting lots of submissions and stressing an already heavily trafficked site. I'm sure a 72 hour deadline didn't contribute at all...

I suspect this kind of thing happens to any forum or art site that gets large enough, as they need to acquire more mods eventually they get some who are concerned about legal action or are just a bit prudish. It happened with FA and dA, it will happen here too.

Many admins have actually stepped down because of Dragoneer's refusal to handle things in a professional manner. The entire Furocity staff resigned after only a month or two. The site owner of Furocity is still listed as an admin on FA, but he's maintained silence for several months.

Another problem is that he makes friends admins, and there is just NO WAY to properly leash people that you are on friendly terms with without being concerned about hurting feelings or damaging relationships.

And people have been asking me for over a year now why I no longer upload anything to FA. I already moved the greatest majority to either here or SOfurry. SO has literally no traffic on it that I've seen, though a nicely designed site. Granted, I get very little traffic here too, but at least it's more friendly and the upload system is a lot more user-friendly. Not to mention there are a LOT of nicer people here on IB. I dont get near the comments here or followers, but I guess quality over quantity, right?

Yes you can. I'm working on this even now. Yours is in the pipeline as well as everyone else that responded to the "owed art" thread. Fortunately, I print-screened it before losing the net. No more excuses for this fox. Everything is currently up and running on my end finally, now it's just the matter of getting it all done, and not *rushing* it so the quality people have paid for and waited for so long wont suffer.

Ooooooh, so THATS what all this has been about. I've seen one or two journals about drama or whatever and had no idea what had even happened/changed/etc. Honestly, I give no shits. I will continue watching people both here and there, regardless of how many move from one to the other.

Being a moderator for a large fandom myself, I know how frustrating it can be, though I at least have the fortune for having a solid team of competent admins and sufficiently well defined rules to work with, either way, not gonna hate on the mods for trying to police rules that don't make any sense, just gonna hope the admins get their shit together because FA is where all the artists I watch tend to congregate, and I'd rather not have a mixture of people simply not drawing/writing anything at all anymore and having to transfer a hundred or more watches elsewhere because I am a lazyfox.

That is the inadvertent result of their constant changing of standards. First cub porn was okay, then it was banned, but there were exceptions, and over time there came a list where prominent shows were exempt. Bad enough. But even that, they couldn't hold to it. So they banned Sonic. And lo and behold, I hear they reversed their decision due to backlash.

FA's just jerked people around one time too many. Were it not for the people that were over there exclusively, I'd not be there at all. But it doesn't make sense to separate myself from like-minded folks. I do wish they'd give Inkbunny a chance, though. Their whole format is just designed so you can allow in what you like, and if something doesn't match your tastes, you can block it out, person or keyword.

Myself, I missed the whole Sonic thing. Just never watched it as I grew up. But all I knew is that the game of assigning arbitrary ages on fictional characters is a recipe for disaster. Baby Herman is 50, Brian Griffin is 7.

I kinda of wish there was greater competition to FA. It's been at the top for a while, and so far nobody's really cracked the market.

I think that once there is a viable alternative to FA (SF isn't, at least not yet, and IB has the 'cub porn' stink) then I think that might force FA to shape up or ship out.

I'm genuinely sad to see FA in the state it is now, given how good it was when it first started, as much of a wistful old man as that makes me sound.

Thing is, I can say eactly the same of the fandom, which has gone from being open-minded about everything to only being open-minded about porn in the decade or so I've known it, yet remaining stubbornly blinkered to the problems this creates and how much trouble it's bringing upon itself. If it's not already creatively bankrupt, it's well on it's way...

Heh. I haven't been on FA in so long, I have like 42k submissions in my list. No idea how many of those are baleeted now. But meh, I like it here better. The one thing I don't like is that you can't just fave, the one to three star thing gets in the way when all I wanna do is say, "Hey, I like this"
