I registered with Inkbunny primarily for testing purposes, to see how the "Big Three" furry archive sites handle stories in particular. This was mostly in preparation for a survey published originally in my LiveJournal as "Furry Story Sites, 2011 Edition". The tl;dr summation: InkBunny has the best presentation for stories, with SoFurry close behind now that they've rolled out their 2.0 version, but FA is still where the big audience is (and the little-known FurRag is probably the best place for an actual writing community).
The truth is that while I like aspects of IB, there are other aspects that make me uncomfortable. The "no humans in sexual situations" rule blocks a fair amount of my work right at the starting gate. The rationale for this has to do with trying to create a "safe harbor" against certain kinds of anti-pornography statutes. To be clear, that's not just my reading. An IB staff member wrote to me, "Inkbunny's policy on human characters was based on third-party legal research for Softpaw."
SF has been stepping up their game for writers (and have even addressed a couple of the user interface nits that I picked in the article), and at this point it's become my de facto writing home. I don't see it overtaking FA any time soon, if ever, but it's a considerably friendlier place for writers to peddle their wares than FA is. It has an arguably much bigger audience than IB does (especially for writing, despite IB's laudable efforts to be text-friendly), and--most important for me--doesn't ban my stuff in the name of protecting other stuff.
I'll keep this account to lock the name, but I don't know if I'm going to use it for posting anything else. (I'm not ruling it out, but the novella that I've just finished has humans and furries in it, as does the novel I'm working on, as does a good chunk of past stuff I've done.)
