Some of you might be young enough you wouldn't call a text adventure a 'video game'. That's right, a text adventure. See, I've been wanting to do something creative lately, and since I have little to no art skills, this is what I'm doing. I'm using a program called Inform 7, which seems to be the most popular system for this sort of thing, and although it's taking me a while, I'm very slowly getting the hang of it. There are, however, a lot of rules and such I'm wrapping my head around.
This is actually an attempt to make a short story I was working on into a more interactive format. Stories are nice, sure, but this gives me both me and the reader a lot of options that a regular story couldn't. I don't have to sit and spend paragraphs upon paragraphs describing everything in the room, no matter how useless. You, the player, are also free to ignore these tiny little details at your leisure, looking at and interacting with what YOU want.
So, now, I give you the game to look at and mess with all you want. Be warned that this is VERY early in, and the game doesn't have anything close to any puzzles. All I'm wanting from you guys for know is to mess with it. Try everything. If it doesn't work, tell me, and I'll see if I can make it work. Let me know if you find any bugs. When the game is 'done enough', I'll probably put in on my Gallery, somehow. Until then, I'll just keep updating it through the journal.
I have a question, for those of you reading this: Do you think there's a market for this by commision, or is it too niche? I know some people who make money writing stories, isn't this basically the same thing, with more interactivity? Sure, it's more work... much more... but I think it's a neat idea. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
