When you read a truely a good story it becomes part of you. it captures your heart and marks your very soul.
if the story is truely good, you fall in love with the main character. you feel what he is feeling. you fall in love with the character's friends, family, and lover. their quirks and their mannerisims.
if a story really, truely touches you like this, you'll know.
you'll want the character to be happy.
and when the character isn't happy, you'll hate the person making him unhappy. with every inch of your being. PURE PASSION.
and when the author kills off someone close to the character, you'll feel as if the person who died was your mate. or your family member. or your best friend. this is one of the most selfish things an author can do to you.
an evil author will take the whole story getting you to love a character more and more.
only to kill him in the end.
he feeds on the crys of sorrow running down the main character's face.
and the pain of the reader. the very real tears flowing from your eyes.
this, is true evil.
when a story truely touches you, you'll hang on to every word. you'll feel as if it's all happening to you, instead of the character.
you'll cry when it's over, because there's no more.
but the author can't help that, now can he?
