You (should) know you been had when..

You (should) know you been had when..

A bunch of people or you overreact to something that is a lot less immanently threatening than what is really going on in the world right now.

Pro-tip: You've been programmed and used.

[Before you bitch & moan and scream "SO YOU THINK YOU BETTER THAN US?!" or whatever, well no, this is hindsight to me. Been (used) there, learned that, partly why I'm not happy these days]

Knee-jerk reactions to a keyword/trigger, is literally a defined symptom of brainwashing.

Things were okay until loud hateful pricks with no respect for artistic expression nor ethics nor manners set up their wingnut soapbox stands to broadcast vile in the furry fandom.. then everybody gets on the that burning bandwagon.
(as in actual bigots, not whom merely use a slightly politically incorrect term.. sadly necessary to specify that..)

" Things were okay until loud hateful pricks with no respect for artistic expression nor ethics nor manners set up their wingnut soapbox stands to broadcast vile in the furry fandom

"Things were okay until someone intruded on our fantasy and now we're all butthurt."

That's what that translates to in common sense. Seriously, get the fuck over yourself. You're wrong. Fucking deal with it.

I'm not sure what you're implying, but I'm talking about actual organized hate groups fucking with everybody lately.
The fallout is everybody gets so triggered by the slightest misreading into anyone's assumed allegiance to a side.
The continuation of that on other levels is what can destroy counties, so that there has my suspicion flags up.

I don't take sides, as in whomever I see personally that breaks the most ethics, are the ones I look down on the most.

That is only one of the instances that's been occurring for about 2 years, more the "I'm leaving the fandom!" BS.
I'm sick of people overreacting to drama that is intentionally triggered, people aren't really paying attention to manipulation or  anything important anymore.

Its really hard for some people to handle that shit tho, especially for people with ptsd and mental illnesses that make them maladaptive to social situations.

I agree with the whole "IM LEAVING FOREVER" back in two days thing. Its not brainwashing its, some people have actual triggers that cause them to either recluse or fly off the handle and its not their fault that they were abused.

It's still a form of manipulation, for someones amusement or agendas.
There is something to that thing where there's many people that just like to tear down other peoples happiness.
Furry was a fun playful fandom, so, bulls-eye.
More people could be more aware and prevent the issues.

Some have tried pointing out the manipulation but were nearly chased away from Inkbunny for pointing it out.

I've said it before and i will say it again: IB(and by extension FA and other similar sites) Is NOT the correct place to be sparking that kind of politically charge discussions, hate speech or whatever
Stratus

If the admin is cool with it and it otherwise doesent say it's not in the rules, then who are you to decide what is and is not appropriate for this site..?

Common sense When people. go to a furry website, they expect furry art, not a pedestal for someone's personal grievances on political ideology. Is that too much to ask for?
Stratus

I feel so. You can block all submissions from a particular artist. On a site with as much ability for personal blocking of things you don't like I think telling someone they can't do somthing is a bit ridiculous and far from "common sense"
"Common sense" however would dictate if someone kept making political shit you dislike, block their submissions. They can still rant and you don't have to see it. Win / win.

Yep... These tactics and more are all just symptoms of people leaping before they look. They prey upon those who would rather leap to safety rather than confirm that where they land is safe

Why does this sounds like a Trump rant to me? XD Not disagreeing or anything, but this whole journal makes me think of the current crisis with that buffoon in power. X3

Oh he's just a symptom. Sorta hard to avoid parallels when talking about what's going wrong.
I mean interesting timing between the recent lgbtq military thing and the current drama isn't it?
I'd almost feel sorry for him but all the inappropriate rants and hate mongering is resulting in exactly what it usually does, only has himself to blame there. But to be fair the last prez was mostly just talk, he didn't do what he should have.

Kinda goes under my distrust in those in power regardless of side in general.

I hear yah. I honestly can't trust any politician. Even these new Justice Dems I'm wary about. Because if there's one thing that is universal amongst us silly apes, it's that power corrupts, absolutely.

They're just more obvious & enthralled with it right now, but big-money is infecting the left almost as much too, doesn't help that divisive button pushing rhetoric is affecting "progressives" the same way that it does racists hicks now.
Even the less shady politicians usually have to sell out to somebody to get elected, last guy got in bed with big pharma, current ones.. oh boy an odd clusterfuck of foreign powers and xenophobic/anti-social hate groups.

Furries are turning on each other very frequently lately, often over overblown polarized or falsely assumed reasons.
Basically people getting easily baited & triggered into fighting.

I don't know whether to be glad or saddened that the "Make them focus on something that's like irrelevant for the long run, exhaust the populace on arguing on trivial things, while we do something else" is not just strictly happened to my country. also Stroking racial tensions is a good way to get views and munny here.

I am sick of it.

Is more complicated. And people leaving is just te final step of it. Just read other people's journals and see how much hate non binary artists have to deal.

I'm sorry, but I feel like you're being too abstract for me to understand, receive, and update my perspective according to your message. When I take your bolded words "Knee-jerk reactions to a keyword/trigger, is literally a defined symptom of brainwashing." and apply that to my own perceptions, I get the message, even after extensive contemplation where I gave the thoughts a scary level of "benefit of the doubt" (even when there's practically zero doubt in the first place), that I should be okay with rape and genital mutilation content relative to my current perspective.

After reading your next paragraph, I'm 99.7% sure that that's not at all what you actually meant, and that you're talking about ignorant reactions to honest-but-ignorant opinions about people who don't conform to simplified mainstream gender and sexuality schemas. However, as much as I retreat to the abstract when direct communication seems like a dead end, I feel like you could exponentially improve your communication efficacy by simply being less abstract/general when you're referring to specific events/incidents.

Or I may be missing an assumption along the lines of "Knee-jerk reactions are purely reflexive AND cannot be or have not been consciously reprogrammed."

Yeah, well summarizing things was less effective in the past.
Distractions and manipulation of peoples fears & bigotry are exactly what has been going on.
People being flamed to over-react and continue these issues, kinda goes under the old divide & conquer tactic.
I told people about this shit spreading for years and many people still don't see it, even as it happens nearly everywhere now.
For example local political organizations were experimenting with specific tactics like appealing to xenophobia against immigrants and public education, then "repainting" (through public media) known corrupt & previously prosecuted businessmen with abnormally effective positive spin, which got these normally unelectable pieces of crap elected. Their goal is to sabotage government, then to blame whom they choose and sell "fixes" for what they broke.
This happened locally many years ago, an is more recently being put to use world wide. Such as giving foreign states & countries the ability to take advantage of peoples distractions and disinterest in paying attention.

The distractions are people too busy fighting over relatively unimportant things like "gender identity", video game conspiracies and what viral stupid internet thing of the moment is, while peoples rights and future income are being stripped away.

And brainwashing works exactly like that - extreme or persistent negative or positive reinforcement for particular things over time tends to change peoples responses, habits and opinions. In the past it has been used to train people and animals to do very disturbing things.. which is also somewhat being used in mass to affect peoples opinions, for example people being feed the same lies repeatedly with addition to emotional appeals (such as linking tortured people/animals to certain uninvolved people, even subtle effects like unflattering photos/slow motion video with spooky music can affect peoples perceptions)
These are things that have been studied & documented as effective at varied levels for centuries, many of course have been studied by rather unethical organizations such as the old USSR, Nazis, and even somewhat recent US government groups.
These groups are of course a minority, but history shows they have been a recurring world-wide problem due to people not taking it seriously.

Last November, the city I live in finally elected a mayor and city council with more local community ties and concern than the previous administration who were a bunch of cronies using political power to advance their personal businesses. People are realizing and stopping the shit that's being done by the manipulative "divide and conquer" class. Lots of places are getting worse, but lots of places are getting better, and local elections still matter.

As for distractions, I agree with you about video games; that's kinda their purpose. But gender identity is a serious issue where "peoples' rights and future income are being stripped away" for existing too far outside of oversimplified naive "male = external genitals + facial hair + deep voice + aggression + ugly" and "female = internal genitals + breasts + high voice + kindness + pretty" schemas. It's probably not a personally applicable issue for you most times when it's brought up, and you shouldn't feel guilty or obligated to make things right just because you fit the schema well enough not to face discrimination, but it is a real issue that affects many people. And no, I'm not talking about pronouns.

Anyway, yes, constant reinforcement at a systemic level does drastically change people, often much more than they want to be changed. That's why it's so important to have multiple worlds that you spend time in; when one world (say, mainstream politics) gets something terribly wrong, there's a chance that another world (say, discourse on InkBunny journals you read) might get it right. That's how the brain finds antidotes to what's wrong in its main world, by looking at alternatives.

Also, it's unlikely for all other worlds of experience to get the same thing wrong in exactly the same manner and severity. Sometimes just seeing the same problems in a more severe form or in a much different context helps identify the same problem in one's main world.

And yes, the brain is very good at learning associations even where there aren't any or where the message is the exact opposite. That's why the news two days before the 2016 US presidential election that the FBI was still not charging a candidate for alleged misuse of email, as the FBI had already decided four months before, was so damaging to that candidate's position. People associated her name with "FBI investigation" not with "no charges" or "innocent". Never mind that the better candidates were too well-behaved to get constant press for scandals left and right; judging between scandals sells more advertisement impressions.

Hope & progress takes alot of effort to maintain and expand, but corruption is almost effortless, it spreads like a plague.
Some people are waking up, but the counter is more people are getting violently stupid too.

I'd have to argue priorities about gender identity politics & now outings of sex-abuse accusations, those are things that need to be evolved to a better state, but the way the current world is those are not where most of the attention should be focused, the world is literally on the verge of mass death ( worlds animal population dropped by half, nuclear war is being provoked, etc. ), yet too few people care to know or acknowledge the need to fix that.
