Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Thus far, I've played through most of the second game in this trilogy pack considering it's the game that i'm the most familiar with... Here's the thing though, I keep hearing/reading about how people are saying that these games are "too difficult" and somehow that makes them bad games. Crash Bandicoot has always been a difficult game for me, but would I call them bad games? No, and this isn't fuzzy nostalgia blinding me, I have my qualms with both the originals and the remastered, for instance in the originals, part of the difficulty was the fact that, a player was forced to use the D-pad to control Crash, making angled movement or jumps difficult, whereas the remastered fixed this by making the games all control with both the D-pad and analog stick, however it feels off making certain precise jumps, even when using the D-pad.

Also, here's a tip for those who have the remastered versions, use the D-pad for the side scrolling segments and the analog stick for the 3D it'll save a lot of headaches.

Another problem with the N. Sane Trilogy is those precise jumps because sometimes Crash will go right through a platform. This has happened to me multiple times, while on a death route. I will say though, and this might just be me, but it's a lot smoother to perform the sliding spin.
For those who may not know, in both Crash 2 and 3, Crash can perform a sliding move, but he takes a few seconds to get back up from it. If the player times it just right, they can use the spin move, thus negating the animation of him standing, while giving the player a boost of speed without wasting time and the best part is the button for the slide is the R1 button, making it super comfortable, because the other way to do it is to hold down the circle button. this is easier than the circle button because sometimes the player may have to long jump or slide jump over a gap. point it it's comfortable to be able to press the R1 button.

Like I said though, I have never considered the Crash Bandicoot games to be bad, hard yes, but not bad, Hell I even like both Crash of the Titans and Crash Mind over Mutant and both of those games are hated by a majority of the fans. now yes maybe something like Crash couldn't work in today's market, but these remasterings aren't for the people of today's market, they're for the people that grew up with the original games, people that just wanted to see Crash return to form after so long of being absent.

Plus part of the games charm is beating the difficulty, granted this seems to be a bit more of a controls issue than actually difficulty of the game. I will say though, some of the timing for certain parts seem off. I was in one of the sewer levels in Crash 2, there is an enemy that hangs from the ceiling of the sewer with a blowtorch, now how bs is it to have this guy be constantly using the blowtorch while over a pool non stop electric eel. great so i either get barbecued or electrocuted. this took me about 10 lives before i finally got the timing.

Anyway, if you have the game, let me know what your thoughts are.

I never played crash before the remaster and I rather enjoy it. Though I feel the tightness of today's game's hit boxes and controls may have spoiled me a bit because it seems like I say "Oh come on I should've (missed/hit) that!" The game is super fun and simple. Easy to get into and play for a bit without thinking about it too hard.

i agree, it's a fun game for people whom just want to jump in and play, and a challenge for those who want to complete it, like me.

"Nostalgia" is now a word like "autistic" or "hipster". Its original meaning has been lost to the Internet and now it means "anything I don't like".

yeah, the problem is, people now view nostalgia as this negative thing which kind of bothers me.

Me too. I blame TVTropes and the Nostalgia Critic for it, although all generations throughout history, when they were young, have hated old things simply because they are old.

It's particularly baffling when they have their own nostalgia for stuff and they try to justify it. You see it with Star Wars prequel fans who hated The Force Awakens for being a nostalgia trip, but then say they should have made a prequel nostalgia trip, because the prequels were good, I remember when I watched them as a kid, sniff sniff, those were the days...

Anakin Skywalker's fall from grace should have told people like that about the consequences of being so obsessed with destroying your enemies that you end up becoming like them, but obviously that didn't happen. I've also seen it with Beast Wars Transformers fans, Godzilla 1998 fans, and Sonic Adventure fans. Nostalgia is always evil, backward-minded and progress-hindering to them... unless it's their nostalgia. Then, suddenly, it's good.

i get what you're saying, basically don't shit on others nostolgia if you can't take your own being critiqued kind of thing?

It's more the "it's only okay when I do it" aspect of it. I think there's too much of that in the world right now.
