My New Laptop

by
Would not activate this morning.  So it will probably be going back after four months of nothing but trouble.  This will likely mean the end of my internet career as well, I can't do this anymore, not with technology steadily become less user friendly and less reliable.

We shall see of course.

As we shrink electronics it seems that it is not as robust or rugged as it use to be.  I am in favor of older stuff only for that reason.

I have a laptop PC that I use that will be ten years old this October .. no issues other than the software is being obsoleted... so I have to upgrade because most sites I visit to pay bills do not support the fonts etc that this computer uses..

(Damn you Microsoft... lol)

... I cannot complain that this lil thing was only 200$ ten years ago..

I still have my original laptop from 1995.  It doesn't work, but man if I could get it to work I wouldn't go back  LOL

Windows wasn't already activated on your laptop, you mean? That's... pretty unusual. What kind of laptop is it?

No Windows was working, the on/off switch wasn't.  I ended up pressing capslock and hitting the power button multiple times to finally get it to work.  Just crappy hardware.

Its a Lenova Flex 4.  I would not recommend this brand.

The ThinkPad lineup is pretty decent; we use those at work. Got a price tag to match tho. Never had a problem with a laptop's power button not working tho o.o

Windows XP was the best operating system.

I agree... It is still being found in grocery stores and point of sale terminals.

But like a warm summer day it all comes to an end.

That is a matter of opinion.  Frankly if something works well, it should be updated and polished and continued in use.  Adding all these nonsensical bells and whistles and hiding things just isn't worth the hassle.  XP should be put back onto the market.

I agree...  It needs to be put back on the market.  Or at least make it open software where it can be tweaked and so on...

I have a desktop that runs win 7 (also old) but it was given to me and all it wants to do is update and reboot to death...  now its wanting me to go to win 10... and I am not...

What ever happened to good ol' DOS 6.22?

(Giving away my age here lol)

The good machines always are.  :P  I wish I could find a device where I can draw directly to the screen.  Ah well, pencil and paper for me.

Bad enough when it's an old laptop. But no one should have to expect that from a new one.

Seems as though every new laptop is getting worse and worse in quality.

They crank out junk, charge high prices for it, and make mega profits.
