Ever since Archie’s Sonic comics disappeared, everyone on the web began hoping (read “expecting”) that IDW would take the reigns.

And now, one of the most common reactions is “I want a Sonic/MLP crossover!”. O_o

Hasbro does not get along well with Japanese game companies. It's very unlikely they'll permit such a crossover.

Also it would just turn into "Haha! Look how the paired-up characters are so similar!" and just not be very entertaining.
