New Sonic Comic Series (Ba-bye Archie And Good Riddance Penders)

IDW will take on the Sonic comics, first issue is next year.

I don't know these guys but I heard they're good, a lot better than Archie, so I hope the best to the hedgehog, it looks like 2018 may be bright for the blue blur with this new comic series, the movie (whatever happened to that?) and both Sonic Forces and Mania, things are looking better (I hope).

Movie may have been pushed to 2019 from what I heard.
It's good to know comics will still be a thing...even if I don't follow them.

Same about the comics and I wouldn't be surprised if the movie was delayed, I just hope to see a trailer or something.

Also wasn't there supposed to be a Sly Cooper movie this year?

Last year we got Ratchet and Clank but I didn't hear about the Sly Cooper movie, is it actually released? Sony's been doing a pretty shitty job advertising these movies tbh!

No, it's not released, yet. I honestly don't think there's been ANY word from the developers since the teaser trailer.

I hope it doesn't get cancelled, I was interested in the Sly Cooper movie far more than Ratchet and Clank, honestly I'm not a big fan of Ratchet and Clank games although I did enjoy the movie to some extent, story felt a little too anime for my taste however.

I can't say I been following any of their work (I'm not even much into Sonic comics to begin with, lol, I'm more of a gamer than a comic geek but I read some comics growin' up) but from what I been hearing they seem to be pretty good so I'll be cautiously optimistic about it!

Sorry but I really didn't like Penders' era, it was the era when I found out about Archie Sonic comics as I grew up with Fleetway Sonic The Comic series, needless to say my first imoressions with Archie was bitter because of his poor writing and bad art.

I skimmed some of them, they improved, a lot, but my first impressions were bitter to start so it wasn't easy to adjust.

Speaking as someone who hated the original comics give reboot Archie a in depth read it may alter your perception of it overall. https://tails.kicks-ass.net/home has all of the comics read at your leisure although I suggest starting from Sonic The Hedgehog 252(skipping from 273-274 and only reading the none crossover stuff in 275), Sonic universe 55 (skipping 76-78), and of course the what was working as a prequel of sorts Sonic Megadrive and Sonic Megadrive the next level.

I already know about the site and I did read the crossover ones only because I was interested in those, I wasn't planning on reading them anytime soon if ever not because of Penders but because I'm not much into comics I'm a gamer.

Also I really don't care for the freedom fighters, I know this statement will haunt me but once again I'm a gamer I like the story from the games :)

Ah, got ya. I guess in the end to each their own. I just hope whatever world is developed for these new comics that they hit that sweet spot the Archie reboot hit by making the various different locations exist on one planet. Cause I honestly have grown to hate the direction they have moved the official Sonic lore in. That two planet thing is just dumb and contradicts Adventure and Sonic 3&K and the whole Classic Sonic being from another dimension even though he was treated as a "younger/ past" Sonic in Generations is equally dumb (unless explained throughly in Forces). I guess in 2018 we will see what IDW cooks up with Sega's guidelines.

When's classic Sonic craze is gonna wear out anyway? I got tired of him back in 2011 when Generations was a thing and here we are 8 years later and he's still a thing, they're like completely two different characters now except not really, why can't we have Sonic and Tails like the old days? why's it Sonic and Sonic?

I really think SEGA should just start fresh and use their own characters and be done with the freedom fighters already, it may piss some fans off but it'll save them a lot of headache with the childish behavior of that immature fan-artist who's so bored of his life he's chasing after a bunch of recolored fan characters he doodled a long time ago.

IDW is responsible for the My Little Pony comics. and given how amazing THOSE comics are, I'd say Sonic is in good hands.

I'm more or less in this spot but I am happy we'll be done with that Penders ass-fuck, plus I hope this reduces the focus on the freedom fighters and gives the in-game cast a chance to shine especially since they been mostly missing from the main series!

You know, people are expecting a My Little Pony/Sonic Crossover, with Eggman using small critters in Equestria to power his Badniks, which would draw upon the FlutterRage, Rainbow Dash in a race with Sonic, even Amy getting the wrong idea so much that the Nightmare Force will consume her, turning sweet, adorable little Amy Rose into the Lust-filled vengeful Nightmare Rose, who wants to make Sonic hers FOREVER! She'd be an even bigger threat than Dr. Eggman, and it would take Sonic and the Mane Six to quell her rage, as their powers combine with Sonic to create Harmonic Sonic!

But that won't happen. Instead, it would be a crossover variant cover to honor Sonic coming to IDW.

10 years ago I would be laughing at this idea as it would never happen (that was before Mario and Sonic crossover and such) but now we even had Sonic/Angry Birds crossover so anything's possible at this point, even Mario's been to this route with the latest incident being a crossover with the Rabbids.

Damn, I would looove for sweet old crazy stalker Amy to make a return, heck why stop there? Make her the main villain in a future title where her crush over Sonic goes out of hand she starts using Eggman's mechs and chaos emeralds to try and capture Sonic, somebody needs to make an epic comic out of this, lol.

The Angry Birds Epic thing was just a crossover guest thing. I only got Red out of it, though. This would be in the comics, though, like Worlds Collide and Worlds Unite for Mega Man, Sonic and Sonic Boom.
