What if i made a PATREON??

I have no idea how it works, but i think it might be something i should look into sometime. But i was just wondering...

Would anyone support me on Patreon?? Keep in mind i do TONS of NSFW stuff, i just dont post it here to keep some form of innocence alive within me xD

For anymore persuasion considering my Patreon would totally be NSFW, here have my e621:

I really would like to know, from my collective 2600 followers here and on FA, would anyone consider supporting my goofy art uwu

Thats all from me, ill talk to y'all soon! Have a lovely weekend <3

I'm absolutely sure someone would, but you need to find the right rewards balance to incentivize your peeps without making any of them think you're a Greedy Artist™.

Patreon is nothing more than a crowdfunding platform that lets people easily pledge repeatedly. Some artists charge per qualifying submission (and promise to limit this to 1~2 a month), others just charge by month.

Your Patrons can also limit how much they're willing to pledge each month, protecting themselves from if you mess up.

You can experiment with the page before publishing it! Take your time!

I had patreon but I was disappointed when I saw that there were scammers who steal your art and post everything on another page, but i dont think if your followers are who support your art and not the random people of internet it happen to you,but my advice, never post your patreon on e621 ,there are bad people

I know of the illegal posting that goes on there, but it shouldnt be a problem with me, since i already plan on posting all my stuff eventually. Even if its held a week or 2 behind, it'll be posted.

Thanks for the advice though, ill definitely take it into consideration!

You can avoid scammers in a few ways:

1. Manually send out rewards only to Patrons whose payments have cleared. (Patreon has the feature to automatically send messages to all cleared Patrons.)

2. Pursuant to 1 and once you're well-off enough to afford it, choose rewards that aren't acquired instantly such as comic prints or other feelies.

3. Flip the switch to charge Patrons immediately as soon as they pledge. This cannot be turned back off.

I like this switch option.. i thought it'd be like that from the get-go. But again, ill figure it out once i decide to go through with all this!

A lot of people only pledge on the first few days of the month anyway, so you probably won't have any issue if you turn it on.

It will stop the non-payments, but there are still some people that don't mind paying up for one month so they can have the stuff and distribute it to other people. Having this anti-scamming measure isn't really going to stop this "theft" issue but at least you'll get some money off of it

Absolutely, but it will still reduce the number, and that's better than nothing.

do it duuude. You can have it with different levels of rewads. $1 to show support. $5 to get like sketches. $20 to get a one character sketch per month... stuff like that. If youre arting full time then its really good

Yeah I pretty much agree with what everyone above said, focus on setting it up with some good incentives and make sure you charge people right away and then you should be good to go boof boy! :>

For me, it really comes to a good balance of worthwhile paid rewards as a bonus and not as a paywall, and overall good behavior about it. Seeing a blend of every submission description about how they really should be spending their money on Patreon, the P logo appearing on every picture constantly, and from time to time, censored pictures they upload in hope people will pay up, is extremely irritating. Some people even paywall commissions - Work the artist got paid for it already - behind a paywall, and that really strikes a nerve with me on how greedy it is.

Patreon should be used as an incentive for people to support you, but since then a lot of people use it as a merchandise store instead, "selling" comics of Pokemon and Digimon behind a timed paywall mainly, and releasing a butchered watermarked version one or two months later. That's the kind of "rewards" I really despise on Patreon but sadly, it seems common practice by many artist these days.

My best suggestion would be to aim for the rewards to be services for your fans rather than material like the usual "Subscribe for 10$ a month and get the full sized non-censored non-watermarked pictures 2 months before everyone else". Something like polls, reduced commission prices, access to WIPs of your work and Patreon-only streams and such. Having like, one or two Patreon exclusive pictures would be completely fine with me if they get posted eventually later on ; Problem is a lot of people make everything they make Patreon exclusive in some way or another these days, and that isn't cool at all.

Hopefully you would come to a really decent Patreon structure for your own. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to get supported by their fans for what they are doing, as long it isn't going against the very same fans that don't want/can't pay up by giving them crapped up versions for everything, and don't profit off someone else's property like Pokemon in the process

I gotta agree with you, being on the other end of greedy Patreon artists sucks, so im gonna do my best to be a man by the furries, for the furries!   ...so to speak

I really appreciate the advice, though; ill definitely come back to this comment when creating a structure for my Patreon <3
