Some of you may not remember a talented singer by the name of Taco. Taco is best known for his rendition of Puttin' On The Ritz, unfortunately, his first video was pulled due to people being offended by some dancers in his video (warning triggers), he had to remake the video in order to censor out the offending dancers. Recently, he did put out a new Jazz mix.
It's amazing that this guy has kept his looks through the years (and yes I suspect plastic surgery was done to preserve his baby face).
This was one of my favorite songs back in the day. You gotta admit that Taco did Fred Astaire proud when he this song. Hell, it's even better than the original.

Implying that this wasn't rather offensive when it came out in '83. Of course, Taco is German, and presumably blackface doesn't carry the same negative connotations there as it does here in the US.

i donno maybe it was offensive then I know it was considered to be a social phopah but he is clearly going for a roaring 20's vibe./...and they did black face all the time then.
theres a differance between offensive for the sake of being actualy offensive or racist or inconsiderate and bitching about nothing. At least I think so XD I mean you wouldent demand they stop running episodes of the Dukes of hazzard becouse there car has a confederate flag on it would you?
I donno im anti cencership to start with. sometimes it's OK to offend. the roaring 20's had black face, it's part of the times, this music video was a recreation of that, to my mind this political correctness is horrible. Nobody gave a shit about this when it came out now all of a sudden he has to take it down and make a new one blagh madness.

You keep saying "it wasn't offensive in the 80s", but it actually was. MTV were the ones who censored the video, for crying out loud. This wasn't the only censored video either. Self Control by Laura Branigan was censored by the same network for being too sexual. And who cares if MTV censors things anyways, they have every right to! They're a private company, they can censor whatever they want, it's a free market. Oh, and it's spelled "faux pas", not "phopah".

Always wondered why Taco didn't get more popular acclaim. One of the things that annoys me most about the US music scene is that if it doesn't conform to easily categorized standard genres, it doesn't get published, and if something unique does sneak through, it doesn't get the airplay because "That's not what our sponsors want to hear"
