(Late) Happy 4th, and TMI Tuesday!

by
Wow, I coulda done this way earlier, but forgot about it lmao XD

Happy 4th of July for you guys, and a TMI Tuesday! I'll ask a question, then you ask!

What are some of your favorite game genres, and why? The mechanics, the plot/story, the characters, the gameplay?

Hard to pick a favorite genre. As long as the mechanics are deep enough to hold my attention and get me thinking, and the pace is fast, I'll probably be interested. Fighters and shooters tend to follow that trend really well.

Quake, Tekken, Resident Evil 6, and Smash Bros Melee are good examples. They all have a lot of interesting fundamentals in them that can't be found in any instruction manual, and were most likely happy accidents that stayed in subsequent releases for how much better they made an already great game (except in Smash and RE's case where the following games were either watered down or radically different). I think it's important to have all that deeper hidden stuff in it to give the game longevity for those willing to explore it to its fullest.

Personally, I enjoy a lot of genres except for shooters and GTA-style games. Could never get into them myself for some reason. But my main things are adventure-themed games with intriguing puzzles. If it takes me a while to figure it out, then I'm hooked even more. I especially like it if the character interaction has effort in it, or at the least, not-too-bland/cheesy dialogue.

My question is: what's a bigger pet peeve: getting interrupted from a game, or being pulled away from your computer when you're writing?

I've dabbled in a few different genres as well! GTA style games are an interesting case, because usually, they're fun while the story is going on, but after you've beaten the game, there really isn't anything left to do but run around and cause havoc, just to see how long you can last before you die lol XD it gets boring after a while. Adventure games are fun though! There's all kinds of sub-genres in the Adventure genre as well, so a ton of variety!

Oooh, good question! Well, for games, depending on if it's multiplayer or not, it's not TOO annoying to be interrupted, cuz I can just pause (I haven't played too many multiplayer games lately, save ME:Andromeda), but I HATE when I'm pulled away from writing. If you're 'in the zone' while writing, and somebody interrupts you, it's like slamming the breaks on a car on the highway for me X'D

Hmm? xD What I could I say xD I like to try new games and styles xD

But mostly I play RTS, Vehicles games/racing game, FPS/Tactical FPS and Story gamesxD

RTS:  I like that I can command my units and I have to make choice in quick second.

FPS/Tactical FPS:  I like to feel of CQC, the excitement of quickly taking enemy down and reaction situation quick.

Vehicles games/racing games:  I like to control huge vehicles and feel theirs on my control. Same goes to racing games :)

Story games: Who wouldn't enjoy a good story game xD I love the cinematic story games :)

My question for you is!

Who has best quills of all the hedgehog guys! ;)
