Hello everyone. I know it's not quite July yet, but I felt this one should come a little early as it's been pushed back over and over and over again. That's right, the big news is that I'm finally starting commissions! Yay! With this I want to cover a few things in this and later posts. I'll try and answer as many questions as I can here so if you have one feel free to leave it in the comments below.
Prices
The range I've chosen for pricing should be flexible enough for folks to get something they would like and still feel as though you got what you payed for. The standards that I've seen throughout for intermediate artists has been $20 for line art, $25 for Flat colors, $40-45 for Cellshade, and $60-75 for full rendered pictures. This is about the range I'll stay in with only a few adjustments as I see fit. I'm not as famous as some artists, but the prices should convey time and quality requested. The final prices will always be posted with the commission page.
Open and Closed Commissions
Something I've seen done numerous times is artists opening and closing commissions as needed and working with a slot system as well. Slots are how I plan to do my commissions. I feel this will work better for me given I still work a day job and each month is always uncertain at how much time I have to draw. I'll be sure to announce ahead of time just when commissions will open and how many slots will be available to give as many people a chance to get one as it will be first come first served. For those that make the request for one, but don't get a slot will be put on a list and given first call when commissions open up again.
Special orders
I recognize that some things that folks would like won't always fall into the cut and dry of the items listed on the commission page. This is where I'm open to the idea of special orders for some items like badges, icons, and such. Prices will be a bit more negotiable for things like this given how much time they will take to complete. For now though, Absolutely no comic requests!! Comics are something I may add to the list much much later depending on the support I get for them. Only time will tell.
Requests - "Important. Please read"
I've been asked by a few people if I'll still take requests once I begin commissions. Rest easy, the answer to that question is yes, I will. However! From this point forward requests are only going to be done in sketch or colored sketch form. There will only be a few exceptions made, but I'm not going to list them here. If you want to know, ask me in PM. I do this because despite needing to make some money with my art, I want to still show my support for each of my fans as they show support for me. Remember that I'm just starting out with this and things are subject to change. A funny thing happens when you support an artist that does art you like, they make more of it more frequently. I want so much to slowly begin shifting my work days to more art related things, to eventually have this as my primary source of income. That's the dream I continue to strive for.
To those who have not received their request after they were put on the list. DON"T PANIC or DROWN ME IN HATE MAIL!! Your requests are still being worked on and are in the closing stages of completion, but I can't put this off any longer. You are not forgotten and they will be filled as soon as I can get to them.
My deepest thanks to all new followers and old for sticking with me this long. A few of you have been here from the very beginning and I'm glad that finally I have something more to show for all your support. Have fun this summer and as always,
