Keywords Keywords Keywords

Just a friendly reminder, be sure to block any keywords of subjects you don't like.  If you don't want to see furries being murdered and killed, then be sure to block the following keywords: Gore Guro Snuff Death Murder Execution and Violence.  It's for your own protection and I always properly keyword all my pictures so there should be no excuse if you see something that upsets you.

Also a reminder to fellow artists, use as many keywords as possible on every picture you post.  It makes searching and blocking subject matter much easier the more keywords you use.  Too many times do I have to hear people complain about seeing shit they didn't want to see.  Too many times do I see artists not post any keywords at all on their pictures.

My bugbear tags at the moment are "male" and "female". They mean nothing! You can't make a block on "'male' and not 'female'" or "'female' and not 'male'".

Most gay art has the "male" tag, which would be fine... but it's no good for keyword blocking, since people stick both "male" and "female" tags on het scenes. So to be any use for blocking, or for searching, keywords need to be specific.

If it's a guy on his own, "male" is probably the only phrase to define it, though "male solo" would be better if it's porny.

Generic keywords should probably be avoided, I think. I wouldn't put "male" and "female" as keywords to a story that just has both genders: it won't help anyone finding my story, nor anyone trying to block it. But "male on female" or "heterosexual" would be appropriate, if those are a large part of the tale.

If I have a story which has small smatterings of a taggable thing, should I mention it or not? I think not.

There are some areas of tension between tailoring to searchers, and to blockers. Like, should I tag "rape" for a long story with a brief rape scene? Probably, because it's potential trigger talk, and people may have very good reasons for wanting to avoid it. Less emotive topics, though, I'd only flag if it was core.

But I think as an interest becomes more of a minority interest ("urethral sounding", etc) it might be worth mentioning even if it's a small part of the story, where something that's mainstream ("buttsex", "oral", etc) would need the story to be *about* that before deserving a tag.

There are almost no stories or pictures about "male", or about "female", so why do people use those tags so often?

Snuff and snuffie are two different things actually.  Snuffie is snuff that is consensual, painless, and impermanent.
