Rawr!
Hello again my fuzzies! Here I am again, late as always posting my end of con journal, but as always better late than never right?
This was my third FWA (Furry Weekend Atlanta) and I think I have successfully got the hang of this one. It was great to be back in the Marriott and returning as a God-level patron too! Originally the intent was to arrive Wednesday afternoon, unpack and explore but Malacath and I got off to a late start and also with the bridge collapse and stormy weather we didn't arrive until midnight, not that we missed anything, and it is always nice to spend time with the one you love. So after checking in and meeting up with Fraddas and Shizari. We all headed to the room and talked for a bit before passing out for the night.
DAY 1
After sleeping in for a bit we got up showered, played some games, caught up over lunch and then got into the line for registration. Unfortunately registration did not run so smoothly this year, even for those with upgraded memberships. So after waiting for a good 45 minutes or so we had to go to another line to collect our badges only to find out they had sent us to the wrong line. But after all that was sorted through we got our t-shirts and con-store swag bought up early since they were set up in the same area, and then went to unpack and get dinner before opening ceremonies.
DAY 2
Day two began with heading down for the opening of the dealers den. Fraddas, Malacath and myself all got lots of use out of our God-Level perks this year using it for just about everything we could and in this case for front of the line privileges. Surprisingly the dealers den opened on time and our first stop was to see GoldenDruid for Malacath and I to pick up our posters and special canvas art that we had commissioned from her, and as expected they both look amazing and I will frame mine sometime soon. Other than that however all of us left the con having purchased less than usual. Nothing much caught my eye in particular, although I did pick up a couple of new books, two shot glasses and a custom engraved flask with myself on it! (Can't wait to break that in at the next con I attend!)
From there we went to the God-level suite to grab a light bite to eat and enjoy the view before returning back down to try out the expanded video game room and board game rooms. Malacath and I played some xbox, and eventually Fraddas joined us in the board game room for a game of Settlers of Catan (which I won) and a few rounds of ultimate wearwolf with a few other furs. As the evening came around we lined up and were shuttled to the might meat faucet as its dubbed by the chairmen of the con for our God-Level dinner of endless meats galore! We all ate till we were practically sick, and then what did I hear from the corner Fraddas telling me that I was right to go God-Level and if/when we return next year he'll definitely have to register for it again.
As we waddled back to the con Malacath and I stayed and watched the band Bit-Brigade play though the music of Mega-Man as it was being played live on a screen behind them, they were fantastic! But they had clearly practiced and could have maybe prepared more material because their show was done in about 40 minutes, just enough for tiggy and I to settle our dinners. After the show was over I was curious to see some of the after dark panels and tiggy of course followed after. Nothing was really interesting to me (and I didn't attend any panels at all this time) but Malacath stumbled into one panel that was a bit too much for him and wanted to leave,,,the look on his face was priceless. The night ended with jackbox with all the roomies and talk.
DAY 3
We began with more browsing through the art show, dealers den, and artists alley where Malacath had to pick up a badge he had ordered. From there we gamed a bit more in both the game rooms until tiggy suited up for the fursuit photo shoot and mingle.
After returning to the room to shower tiggy met me up at the sky lounge for the social mixer before heading down again to have a crack at the charity auction. Both tiggy and Fraddas won a cardboard standup of art done for the convention from various artists, but the fox sadly had to sell his back to a lucky buyer because it was going to be too expensive for him to get it home during the flight. I myself bid on a couple of items but each time the prices got just a bit too high for me so I backed out.
The night ended as always with us all laughing our guts out to the improv of Dad's Garage, who this year brought back the voice actor from Archer who voices Pam. As always the do an amazing job and we managed to proudly convert two of them to the fandom as of last year, so kudos on us!
DAY 4
The final day we all ran around trying to take in all of the last bit of the con. Lots of gaming, socializing briefly with friends (although from time restraints I didn't get to hang out with a few of them longer than a few seconds) and then ended with the anticipation of closing ceremonies and the drawing for a suite for next year and a free fursuit. Sadly none of us won but it was fun to watch, and of course hear the great news that next year we have booked the whole hotel to ourselves! Room to expand and grow to the theme of Galactic Gunslingers!
In the morning after packing the night before and having some deep conversations over all of the funny stories of each of our pasts over dinner tiggy and I drove off back home and left the foxes to make their way back to the airport for their flights. While we have nothing set in stone about returning for next year its a bit too early to rule it out. If I do come back I would hope to be able to go to more programming and hopefully see more things in the dealers den and art show that make me want to throw money around!
Up next for me will be the last second BLFC Biggest Little Fur Con quickly followed by Anthrocon. Will I be seeing any of you fur balls there? Let me know! More fun to be had, more friends to meet, more rock and roar!
