Social Activities and... Patreon?

I promised to keep you updated, so here I am, back at it again! My last journal had tons of feedback on nearly every site I posted it on (mainly DA and FA) and I wanted to thank you all for taking a few seconds to, you know, share your preferences. These days I've been working a lot, both for the Comics School and for.... Well, my actual job. Had to push some of the homeworking aside tho, in order to make space for some of the commissions, since they were paid and, let's say it, I definitely took too many XD

Not a big deal though, as long as I draw I always have fun, no matter what. My only regret is I hardly find time for my personal exercises which are the ones that help me improve both my coloration and drawing skills overall. I will have to fix that. But, by the way, I was wondering...

What if I opened a Patreon? It'd help me a lot, since it would make the time I draw (even for myself) more profitable. Don't worry, I don't plan on having no exclusivity whatsoever, it would mostly be the "tipjar" Patreon model, my favorite kind. Basically you just put whatever you want on it whenever you want to help me do more and better what I already do. The reason I'd go for this model is, basically, I don't like "exclusivity" and let me get into the whys.

First off "exclusivity" would mean that I would inevitably have to exclude some of the people who follows me with genuine interest by not making them see my work, and that alone is already sad enough. Plus, I just think the whole "targets" thing is a little scummy, not always, but generally speaking I don't like it because it's I don't know... Dirty. I want EVERYONE to see what I do, even those who have no money at all. Of course, if I ever open a Patreon and the tipjar method does NOT work I might find myself forced to use the exclusivity model somehow, honestly I'd rather do the tipjar or nothing at all personally. But, you know, if it doesn't work properly starting with the exclusive thing might be a good way to begin only to slowly remove it with time as I (hopefully) gather a following. Just wanted to be clear and honest with ya'all from the getgo.

Tip-jarring is a good idea tbh, cause in the end it really comes down to a "Why not" scenario. Doesn't matter if even you don't receive funds through it for some time -- the option is there for any passerby or subscribed follower to your work who wants to, if warranted by interest.

Patreon isn't a bad solution but its not the only solution -- the Patreon model for PWYW donations is better in a way becuse it allows another place for you to have subscribed patrons with updates if they use the service, instead of like a FA/IB/DA journal, its a stream of consciousness so people can scroll through journal-lites only if you use patreon in that way.

You can also setup a donation account for PayPal and such parallel to your main PP account or any other payment services like google wallet or cash.me if you would like to have a donation service if someone sees fit to want you to benefit from it without the necessity of actually placing a commission in your queue [or if you're not taking them] I'd say just do it, regardless of input from myself or others.

To me it seems like you're able to pump out high quality art in a timely manner and you have a good niche so retention for donations and commissions wouldn't be that hard to keep and bring in more revenue. Go for it!

I have to thank you, man, your words are reassuring and encouraging. I will keep your advice at heart and do my best to deliver. But really, especially those last 3 lines means a lot to me, it really gets my hopes up to make more for you guys and even to start my own progects that have been laying in silence for such a long time.

Thanks again, thanks =A=
