Patreon's Ban on Cub/Loli?

Hey folks!  I'm seriously prepping to resume my Patreon page, but then I heard that Patreon is actively banning people that draw loli/cub.

What are your experiences or things you heard about this?

What if I draw 50% boobs and 50% cub?  90% boobs?  Will I be safe?  If there's even one cub drawing, will I get reported and ended?  :(

Or does it only have to do with the presentation of the front page?  What if I don't mention that I will be drawing young looking furries?

I'd recommend not mentioning it. Just advertise from InkBunny, and PM your Patreon content through Inkbunny or direct email them. I also don't think they can stop you from linking .RARs that contain it either, but don't quote me on that last one.

i've seen and heard about the linking, and not posting any actual images on the website.  Seems like a hassle, but it seems to keep creators from being banned.

You shouldn't feel any conflict. There is this thing called public relations. The "ban" on Patreon is there so that people don't say that they "support pedophilia," or anything similar. Imagine how a major page would look like if they said "any porn, including lolicon and shotacon, is allowed!" I think many people would not like that. Thus, I strongly suspect this rule is one of those political rules, that exist merely to appease the masses. As others have said, it is something that may get enforced when someone reports you. With that being said, play it safe and be a bit low key, that way the chances of being reported become practically nil.

None of the loli artists I follow seem to have any problems so far, Rustle included, but if it's a newer policy it might take a while to enforce fully. I'd wait a week or two just to be sure if it's safe.

might take that long to get back into things lol.  sure thing.  thanks!

is only if someone report them must people dont care about this rule BUT to play it safe either dont post anything there and just linking... OR never say the ages of the characters EVER

the rule has been on for more than a year but unless you have a hater no body gonna actually check you if you follow the other rules. all nfsw patreons need to be hidden thats the most important rule to follow

Personally I just don't bother posting anything at Patreon that can be remotely considered illegal.

Sometimes it is just better to play it safe.

yep im starting to think its safer to do it through linking.

One of my favorite artist that I support always post content on imgur and link it through patreon. That kept him safe since day one. He stated its loads better than direct posted content c:

Dunno the situation in full though so I cant offer much advice nor experience.
furnut5158

i might do that then.  imgur is pretty safe right? >_>

From what I recall, images can be set to be unlisted and invisible to search engines *like unlisted youtube videos* but that what I heard. I highly advise you to ask for more information from people who use it c:

Just don't click the publish button. That sets the image to appear on the sites front page etc etc.

I'm always linking to imgur and never stating the age of the characters (No matter what character is).

Some friend who draws a lot of human lolis told me that the someone in the staff told him to use that system when he started his patreon. It seems to be allowed if you do it correctly, but I may be wrong and depends on the case.

thanks for the input.  imgur seems to be pretty safe.

Shadbase the only one that got banned so far and that because he was directly reported.   Launny too and I believe they were directly reported as well.  Other than that, no one else I know of has gotten axed.

Personal suggestion is to not mention your IB.  Use a different name than your normal FA and IB name and dropbox or google drive your works.

Don't even mention it on Patreon. The best way to distribute that stuff is through Discord, and an ambiguous mention on Patreon that "This week's content is available only through Discord".

That's because Patreon and Discord can automatically synchronize - you can add a Patreon bot to your Discord server that automatically upkeeps Patron roles.

Then you can make one of those Patron roles have exclusive access to a Discord channel where you announce and distribute your Patron content.

Discord staff, as a rule of thumb, do not bother to police individual servers or private messages, and while the official Terms of Service say stuff like "no porn pls", they will only act against content that is blatantly illegal.

This means you may still want to avoid underage human artwork, which is less legally protected than non-human artwork.

ooh wow thats new to me :D  I got a discord, and can easily make a channel for this.  plus people can come in and chat with me and stuff, which is always nice.

hm i never used a discord bot before.  gotta look into this.

Thanks a lot FibS!  yeah i'm sticking to cubs + boobs :)

If you're having trouble getting Patreon to add Discord roles to your rewards, give it a day or two and try again later - it was acting up for me too

Basically this. I would be a little surprised if they went to the extent that FA does in checking 'cub' keywords on submissions here against artwork posted to their site to police the age of fictional animal characters - as long as they do look like animals, not humans with a bad hair day.

it hurts my head that this is still an issue.  -___-;

It's actually getting worse. Although Inkbunny may squeak past because it's not particularly commercial, but it'll depend on their definition of "commercial basis" - if it's "consistently making/seeking to make money", "being a company" or "taking paid ads", that's good for us (not so for FA/FN…), but if it's "commercial hosting", any significant furry art site is screwed.

wow......hope they don't define something that includes IB in it.  Is there a backup plan if things go south?
GreenReaper

Well, we aren't hosted in the UK, so it'd be easy to legally transfer it to non-UK staff, and then even if they block it in the UK it's hard to come after staff.

Of course they don't want to be seen as pushing sites out of UK jurisdiction - or pushing people towards using Tor - so maybe it won't come to that.

If they offered free use of their own verification system it'd be fine. I doubt they will.

Just do what I do and only post a SFW thumbnail with a link to your IB.

I could understand the decision, as patreon is known for being a crowd funding service and the idea of people openly supporting cub on a cooperative service like theirs is certainly gonna turn some heads. It is possible to make porn without exposing it to patreon.
