LOL San Fran wants to make a $200million Suicide net.

LOL San Fran wants to make a $200million Suicide net.

http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/loca.....419371784.html

You ever wonder where shit tons of money seem to disappear to in your state instead of fixing actual important things...

Well, look no farther than idiot politicians.

I don't know which is sadder, that the politicians want to spend $200 to build a net, or that they think a $200million net on a single bridge will actually prevent suicide.

Then again, these are the same politicians that would rather blame a gun, an inanimate object, instead of the CRIMINAL that uses said object... And these are also the politicians that will spend a trillion dollars on a pneumatic tube train (hyperloop) that will never work instead of a more affordable and safe high-speed rail or monorail system.

Also, even the design of the net is stupid as there is nothing preventing someone from hitting the net and just continuing from there, hell it will likely start a whole trend of people doing it for the thrill or "shits and giggles"... Then people will jump into it in a way to hurt themselves so they can then sue the city for hurting them with their evil anti-suicide net.

Oh my gawd...

The dumb...

So. Much. Dumb.

I'm thinking, $200million is A LOT OF MONEY that could be better spent on, oh... I don't know... maybe helping depressed homeless people, perhaps building affordable housing, or funding better MENTAL HEALTHCARE?!?

If they can't jump to their death, they will only drink antifreeze or jump in the path of a train.
I've heard of people committing suicide by swimming out into the ocean from a beach at night as far as they can go, knowing that after they wear theirself out they can't make it back.

It's just like countries that ban guns because of suicides...

Sure the gun suicides go down, but then suicides in every other way go up across the board.

I wonder how much it costs to deploy boats to recover the body. They may be saving money building a net.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost $200million to send a boat or two out the few times a year people actually go through with it, hell, most the time the bodies sink or float out and are eaten by sharks and such so they don't even need to send boats out.
