Well I've just a very close call with an accident I had. Earlier today I was doing some decorating work down my late grandad's home burning and stripping off paint when low and behold, a burning ember caught the corner of my eye!
Immediately I stopped and calmly went to the bathroom sink and flushed my eye out with plenty of cold water for 20 minutes, clearing anything that might have got caught in my eye and cool the burning. At first my sight was a little blurred but that was because I had washed it with water but then it cleared up. And with that I came back and immediately placed a ice patch over my eye to cool it and reduce any swelling that has done the trick. Thankfully my sight hasn't been damaged and although my eyelid is still stinging and sore it will heal within no time.
Still as the old saying goes "accidents happen". It was also a bit of good fortune that I wear glasses too, as they have prevented any burning embers of burning paint getting directly into my eye! I know I should wear goggles but I didn't have any on me and usually I am always careful and cautious when working with power tools and the like. I know part of this is down to not using the right set of steps too but of course I know now.
To think that's two near misses in two days now! Yesterday was a near miss when I fell off the steps I was using and now this. Although the near miss I had yesterday wasn't so much my fault but that of the builders who didn't secure the floorboards, near to where I was working, properly and left them loose causing me and the steps to slip and sink!
Anyway I'm happy to say that I am still in one piece and still here.
