F me in the A, my car

Well... Find me in the Alps! My car started to make a hideous screeching and groaning sound, so I took it in to find out what. So, my brakes are shot, my brake fluid is bad, and there are 2 open recalls on my car, and so much more. Looking at around 900 dollars right now... What I can do is write a check, drain all my accounts, and pray I can make rent by the time its due.

So, on a related note, anyone who has been hesitating on a commission wanna give it a shot? I am also gonna be spending some time streaming. Might be doing it Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays every other week in the afternoon, depending on my work schedule, streaming art, maybe taking in stream PWYW commissions.

Like, I can't be begging for money at every turn, but I kind of hit a figurative pothole. (I am fairly sure it was that literal pothole that did my breaks in)

Also as a reminder, I have a patreon. Got some more previews I am gonna put up later this week, as well as a poll, and a patron art work for February and March to be uploaded there by the end of the next week. http://www.patreon.com/AlejandroDelFuegoarts

So, ttyl.

900 dollars for a brake job sounds nuts.  Changing and bleeding the brake fluid yourself is a real pain, but replacing rotors and pads is easy and will generally cost less than $200 for all-new hardware, much less if only the pads need to be replaced.  It might be worth doing the brakes yourself (as long as you have a breaker bar to undo the main bolts holding the calipers to the car).  Look at a tutorial on YouTube.

Well, I am super bad at cars and have none of the hardware. Plus there are the two recalls and other issues in there that I had to address at the dealer when I pulled in. It was one of those "we legally can't let you leave" kind of deals that I am not sure is legit but at the time was too scared and overwhelmed to challenge.

As far as I'm aware, that is not legal.  They may require you to sign a waiver on the work order stating that they informed you your car is unsafe, to absolve them of any liability, but they cannot impound or intentionally disable your vehicle.  Same thing is true if your vehicle doesn't pass inspection.  I can understand them not being willing to do the recall work if your brakes don't pass inspection, though.
