PLEASE DO NOT LEAK MY $ CONTENT!!!

So far you all have been LOVELY about this, so please continue as it means a lot that you all respect my wishes, but on a certain board someone is asking for a leak, i can't find out how to report or get it taken down (nobody has leaked it thankfully) but i want to talk about what that would do.

While i understand having to pay for things sometimes sucks. you have to realize who you're hurting when you do that, i'm no meesh or onta or artdecade who could probably take the hit (sharing their stuff is JUST as wrong of course) but i'm a VERY small artist on the scale of this community, so what may seem like just sharing some images hurts my wallet and my wallet is basically a coin purse.

people not buying commissions or releases or a YCH means me not getting to eat, or have a phone anymore, I still live at home and am unable to find work (the CA job market is kinda fucked when you have no connections or not enough experience)

Now i don't mind my normal work being reposted, old comics, etc. anything like that is 100% shareable! go ahead! just don't edit it and credit me if you'd like! that's it! easy peasy~

If Drawing no longer becomes a viable source of income i'll have to stop doing it and i'd really like to not have to do that, until a better way to make money on this happens, some projects i release will have to cost money.

are you talking pateron or like buyable content being shared? like you selling like comict on a page and somone shares it on a site like e621 or patreon where all content is hidden till you subscribe to the artist?

Over on a few sites i have some art packs and comics that i sell, they aren't available for free and would like to keep it that way, someone over on a chan site has requested a pack for release aka they want it leaked, I don't want that to happen so i wrote about what that does if you do that to artists like myself, I'd be all up for a patreon but only 4 people said they'd maybe support that.

this will be a hard thing to stop but if the artpacks are Exlucive material that never been seen you can possably already find it around on sites

Followers so far have been very respectful (i assume the person asking isn't a follower but some other person who doesn't care if they hurt me at all) I try to communicate with my follower base often open to ideas and your opinions but people aren't too social on that end.

Well, this is kinda what happens when an artist paywalls their content. The demand to have it without paying for it jumps up exponentially. If you ask me, it's only gotten worse with Patreon. Piracy has been running rampant since that went up since so many artists have turned to the paywall system to make money.

Personally, I don't agree with paywalling myself. I can respect it, but I don't really agree with it. If an artist intends to get as much money out of a product as they can and then release it for free later on (in other words, timed exclusives), that I can get behind. But, permanent paywall content just doesn't sit well with me, even if I had the money to buy it. Still, I can respect it since an artist has to make money somehow.

Digital artistry is a thankless job to non-customers. You have to be ready to have every piece of work you post online to be ripped and reposted, free or paywalled. I wouldn't be surprised that whoever asked for that leak sees this journal and starts spreading his request to other boards out of spite.

You have to take this kind of stuff on the chin, even if it hurts you financially. The internet is unforgiving to artists. Thankfully, you're not as small as you think you are. 500 watchers is small. You just broke 2500 here on IB. You may not be popufur big, but you do have a sizable following. You'll bounce back from whatever leaks that may occur. You have to believe you will or else the doubt will consume you.

I'd be for timed exclusives (if i did a patreon that's how i'd do it) but with these comic's and packs i feel if i released them for free anyone who bought them could feel jipped.

I don't mean small in follower count of course (IB is my biggest following its why YCH's usually only go here as they flop on other sites) but the commission rate/buy rate for my work is VERY low (if i lived on my own i'd be dead) I can barely afford a phone each month let alone almost anything else, i'd love a steady back and forth with followers (like a patreon or something to that degree) It sucks for artists who do content like this because if nobody is buying then i can't afford to waste time on it anymore so if the people sharing like my work they're actively hurting the chances of me doing more like it by wanting it for free. I've considered a sorta "free-Version" of some content but i can't come up with a way that seems fair in any sense or that won't make people more mad then happy.

I understand that art is a thankless job (people consume what takes me hours to make in seconds) then want it for free, it's very dishearting but i'm not one of those artists who makes $400 off a YCH (i've seen many who do) i make maybe $20 if i'm lucky, surviving on under $100 a month is VERY difficult so i can't be empathetic to those who wanna make that harder for me.

Imagine working for two weeks, then not getting paid for it. Man, that would be the worst.  Please don't leak art, cause it hurts artists that much.

for real, i mean each project i've worked on that's for sale took at LEAST a month (Gosh! taking a total of 3 months for about 60 pages of comic) it feels like i'm not asking for much? 8$ for a months worth of work seems more then fair, i even lowered the price of the pack that person wanted for free, i used to charge like $25 or $30 for it and now its $10 its just very upsetting.

I'll open by saying, I don't leak. It's a jerky thing to do..

But your content will leak.

I ask that you not punish your loyal and paying fanbase when it leaks. Not if. When.

Not sure how anything i'd do would be "punishing" anybody, it would just be a response to one person ruining it for everybody. I could ask people not to look at leaks but would they honestly? probably not. its literally just allotment of my time, i get by as of now, SOLELY on my art, if people start leaking all my releases, then art is no longer viable and i'll have to quit. or at least decrease my drawing time by a HUGE number. (i don't want to do that) if we can come up with a way to release my paid content free later, that doesn't make the ones who bought it feel jipped, i'll try it. I've tried quite a lot already. so far nothing has really worked.
