I need your help!

Seriously; I need to know what you guys think is THE most 80's-est song of all time! I know I could easily do a search, but... I need to get a read on my target audience. No I won't tell you why. ;3

Well, it's technically not from the 80's, but rather based on the 80's.

also cover of my favorite actual 80's song by Celldweller (Scandroid project)

I swear I've listened to those recently. Not quite what I was looking for... dancing. I didn't want to spoil the surprise, but there will be dancing. X3

Hah! I just listed that one below, as well. Great minds and all that.
Dead Or Alive for me was the most original song of the 80s. I had never heard anything like it before, and it blew me away. I learned to do the wiggle-hip dance specifically to imitate the late Peter Burns in that iconic video.
Not that synth-pop was all up-tempo, of course:

i was born Dec 31st 1979. but i was only a baby and a kid thew the 80's and didn't know about a lot if the songs at the time.

Now... you say that. But I think you'd be surprised by the amount of 70's and 80's songs that have been a part of your life. Even from earlier time periods, in fact.

I guess I could have been a bit clearer, like "what would be the best dance song for ___?"... but... that would spoil the surprise. ;P

Aaaah, CHiPs: the great clearinghouse for fading Disco BGM tracks. You will never hear more up tempo, full-orchestra, dance-your-shoes off music backing 35 mph chases through the streets of LA.

As the seeming sole 80s teen, allow this old greymuzzle to serve.
Aside from those already linked above, I'd also recommend:

and so many others of course...
I avoid the trap of trying to name something THE most 80s ___________ of all time. Simply too many good candidates.

Stumbled on it yesterday while listening to metal remix of Heathens From Suicide Squad

Both that song and video are very deliberate and careful tributes to 80s power-rock anthems. And that song itself has ripped the bridge-riff from Blondie's "Call Me" in its intro.
Now in the spirit of 80s Revival Rock, let's check The Hoff reminding everyone that he does in-fact have pipes:

Ahh, I know, that's why I asked. Though it may have made things even harder. XD

Hold on. I now remember that yes, there can be one definitive 80s pop song, in that it focuses upon and promotes a single thing that is entirely and exclusively 80s. And that song is this:

I always loved "Animal" by Def Leppard!

And yes the drummer, Rick Allen is playing with one arm.

>mfw I remember Def Leppard as being considered shocking and controversial...
Of course, their earlier stuff was given to that whole 80s metal "occult imagery" shtick:

Also, the whole Drummer Rick Alan Loses His Arm story is entirely remarkable, in how much the band refused to abandon their mate and went to elaborate and expensive lengths to keep him on stage and drumming. It was a huge feel-good story when it came out. M-TV was all over it.

Look closely, and you will notice that the room in which the Simple Minds video was shot, was later used as the dining room in Wayne Manor from Tim Burton's Batman (1989).

Bonus Multiplier: you linked to the original Star Wars Cantina ripoff video, which was rather well-done actually, and was a big hit when it came out.

Another monster hit. As was its film Top Gun. An immensely effective recruiting tool. You kids have no idea.
But for this old greymuzzle, Kenny Loggins and movies equals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVjU7g6zWcw

"Danger Zone" is a very 80s song in its construction and arrangement, and it was ubiquitous for months when it was on top.
Trivia: Williams Pinball built their classic machine F-14 Tomcat to exploit Top Gun's explosive success.

It's an easy candidate for the decade's Top 40, at least.
