MP3 files (I need advice)

by
The radio of the car my brother got me has a port to connect a USB stick, so I filled one with all my music and plugged it in. I can even make separate folders for each band.

Now I can listen to my music without commercials or other crap the radio stations have.

But then I have noticed different files have different volumes. Some are louder than others so I have to be adjusting the volume all the time because one song plays okay and the next is either too low to hear or so loud its deafening.

Anyone knows if there is a program or app I can use to regular the volume of MP3 files so they all play at the same volume?

I don't know if I'm asking for a stupid thing, my knowledge of this particular technology is very limited, but I know there are a lot of sound-savvy furs here.

Thanks in advance!

I did it. All the songs have the same volume now, but a low volume. If I'm listening to the recorded files and I switch to radio the radio would be extremely loud at that volume. Is there a way fo make them all louder in that app? I have been checking all the options, but there is stuff there I didn't understand. Sorry, I'm an idiot.

I dunno. I never used the app myself. I just googled "mp3 normalization" :O

Check out the app recommended by Arkaid in the previous comment. It works.

I would always just open the files in audacity, lower or boost the volumes so they matched the other tunes better, then save the file. Because you have to do it one file/tune at a time, this is a very time consuming way to do it. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a program that would normalize whole batches of tunes in one go.

That sounds great, but having to do it song by song would take long time.

yeah I know. That's why I kinda gave up. Tis why my mp3 collections for the car are relatively small. I just can't be bothered. When I don't have a USB stick in the car I just listen to classical radio. Is about the only form of radio that doesn't make me want to kick the dash in.

I don't even think there is a classical music station around here. You scan the dial and it's all rap or salsa, both of which I despise.
There is one classic rock station and one that plays mostly 80's mixes.

heh that makes 2 of us. We only get 1 classical station and it's run by a very political organization, so it's like ice cream with shit sprinkles. They mostly play the stuff that pseudo-intellectuals listen to in order to be "cultural and brainy". in short, it means hearing the same mundane performances of over played pieces, over and over and over. Only on occasion will they play something different and/or exciting like Prokofiev or Rachmaninoff.
