Kong: Skull Island (no spoiler review)

(2nd typing due to a mistyped BACKSPACE erasing the entire previous writing)

This film was exactly what I said it was going to be since the first trailer. This is the best BAD film of the year. I can see this movie being a guilty pleasure for me and understand if others will say it is a real good film, unlike my confusion to those who think Batman vs Superman is good. The movie gives a good amount of positives to go with the numerous negatives. Oh man, I wish I had brought a notepad and pen to keep track of everything I was thinking and noting.

"Why have have that on the briefcase?"

"Where all the other helicopters come from?"

"Where that tree come from?"

"Did they just show a still frame of a setting sun for a second?" (they did)

I actually laughed out loud within the first thirty seconds of the movie, followed by a lot of me thinking "This is bullshit." and "What the fuck?" after. But I was amused by it all with a smirk on my face. This movie is gorgeous to look at, and Kong looks great. There are some wonderful scenes and fun action. But then there are moments with really bad effects, horrible editing, and some terrible writing. I can guarantee that there will be an extended unrated/Rated R cut to be released when it hits Blu-Ray. Most of the actors, most of which I am a fan of, are given nothing to really work with and you can clearly see them struggling a lot to make their scenes work. Even Sam Jackson was having a hard time, and that man can save most any role he is in.

Things to really note:
Kong's size seems to change. Its not bad like other giant monster films I seen, but its noticeable.

Like I said, there is some editing issues. The still shot of the sun, and there are a number of shots of the sun in this film to make it noticeable that this was a single image and not in motion, was likely due to them not having enough footage to go with the audio overlay of Jackson talking and put it in for a weirdly edited filler. It really made me derp for a moment when it happened. The editing also makes it hard to tell who is talking at times, where the people are(it seems that they teleport at times), and how much time has past.

The action is a lot of fun, and is worth seeing just for that. I bet this film was a blast to watch in the theater with a hyped up crowd.

Going to end it here. I can talk a lot more on the film whenever I stream it. Or if you ask me for more on it.

As of a first viewing... Damn.. I really have no idea how to rate this one.
I am going to say 3 out of 5 due to the fact I was entertained and not mad for spending money on it. That could go lower after repeated viewings.

There is a post credit scene setting up future movies

Don't think I will be showing it on BMF unless the film turns to shit for me on repeat viewings

However... I might play it for some kind of guilty pleasure double feature maybe

It is an important part of a film. But can you imagine how good it would have been if it was actually made good?
