He's gone. I didn't know him that well, and we spoke only on occasion, but this death has left a bit of a hole in me. He was a sweet man and very generous.
He helped me with a few ideas for my little realm, the Boxing Bunny, and my characters. I even invited over one of his characters, Mandy, and was so delighted when he actually created a small adventure around the place. I was even more surprised when I found him returning and the borrowing one of my characters, Miki, to join her on an adventure. He never got to complete it though. Looking at his page, I realize that one of the last things he drew was my Miki getting caught groping Bemused.
In my mind, the Boxing Bunny now has ghosts in the speakeasy club in the basement. Miki can do whatever she wants in my universe including talking to me, her creator, and she has a pair of magical shorts she wears when she goes skating. None of this would be true without Gene. I will miss him terribly.
