If you're not an artist

by
then is there any point to give an opinion (compliment OR criticism) on art? Does it even matter to an artist? It's something I was just thinking about. Sometimes I honestly feel as though even complimenting people actually just annoys them more than anything.

here's the thing.....

AN ARTIST MUST WORK FOR THOSE THAT ARE NOT ARTISTS.  an artist's work, is for the people, not for other artists, if it was like that, art community would still be the elitist bunch of stiff jerks they were back on 20th century's early years, gladly, the fauvism, expressionism and other amazing revolutions changed that.

ART IS TO SHARE.  not to brag about.

as for criticism, that will always be a trouble, because people does not seem to understand the difference between an actual critic and pure trolling.  many young artists find themselves trapped in poor criticism /  trolling, that has driven many talented artists to stop either sharing their work, or drawing at all.

EVERY FORM OF ART IS SUBJECTED TO CRITICISM, REAL CRITICISM. and every artist must learn to differ between criticism and trolling, because only by the feedback of healthy criticism, we can improve our work. if not, we stuck and stop evolving.

so, KEEP CRITICIZING. HONESTLY AND AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE.  just, avoid trolling or using offensive terms. there is a big difference between saying "I DON'T LIKE THIS OR THAT" or  "THIS DAMN THING SUCKS AND YOU SUCK AS WELL"

that's my two cents on the subject :)
