More Voices Needed For Next Chapter (SPOILER ALERT!)

First of all, thank you to everyone who has auditioned so far. The parts for the doctor and nurse have been chosen, but don't despair if you were not chosen. There are a LOT of parts in this next chapter.

Also, this Journal contains spoilers for the arc. If you want to be surprised and are not planning to audition, please don't read any further.

But first of all, a few recording and auditioning tips.

If your recording software does not allow you to view your recording, I recommend Audacity (www.audacityteam.org). It is freeware. And any recordings made in it will be completely compatible with my version of Audacity. Just make sure you EXPORT to wav or mp3, not save and send the amp file, as that file is incomplete without the accompanying folder.

Try to get a peak recording level of about -2. I got several where the peak recording level was about -20 which is very very very low and is likely to cause electronic static to interfere when amplified. Try not to go over -2 as you run the risk of "clipping" which is recording at too high a level and causing distortion.

Try to find a quiet place to do recording, get close to the mic, and do not speak directly into the mic (otherwise you end up with pops and hisses). This will reduce background noise a lot and produce a better recording.

Also, listen to your recording. Does it sound tinny? Muffled? Check your mic levels and see if you can work on the bass and treble levels to get an even, natural sound.

Lastly, before I list the voices needed, as usual send the audition to degroot.max[at]gmail.com and please name your audition file <part>-<name>.wav or mp3 preferably. This will make sorting and auditioning much easier. Also, in your email, indicate where you heard of the audition, and your name there so I can find you again.

All that said, here are the parts needed. All are either male or female, except the rioters who should all be male:

Hotel Desk Clerk: "Sir? Sir! We don’t recommend you go out there. There seems to be a riot going on." "It's too dangerous, sir."

Rioter 1: "Hey, look what we got here! A honeysucker!" "A Mongrelizer, huh? Can’t keep with your own kind? Gotta spread your filth somewhere it don’t belong?" "Scram! The Blues are here!"

Rioter 2: "Where ya goin’ stumprump? Runnin’ away scared?" "Woah, woah...what’s your hurry?" "You’re not going anywhere, honeysucker!"

Rioter 3: "Yeah, typical urser." (pronounced ERSE-er) "Hey, hey, I know you. You’re that Mingler from The Beach Bums." "You know what we do with Minglers, stumprump?" "So long, Mongrelizer…"

All rioters should sound angry, belligerent, and each epithet should be said with hatred.

Police 1: "Freeze! You're under arrest!" "Can you describe them?"

Police 2: "Dispatch, this is Unit 23. We need an ambulance at Preston and Springer, stat. Acute trauma."

Police Dispatcher: "Copy that. Ambulance to Preston and Springer. Trauma victim."

Stranger: "Officer! Officer! I saw what happened! I know those guys!" "I can do better. I know their names."

Hospital Worker: "Is this Birch Draper?" "This is Norton Hospital in Louisville Kentucky calling. Do you know a Stargazer Borealis?" "He is in emergency surgery. We just wanted to inform you, since we have been unable to contact his wife." "Oh, I see...yes, I show her checked into our sister hospital. But no, I am talking about Stargazer Borealis. He was brought in about an hour ago and rushed into surgery." "They are presently working to close a wound on his right side. It appears to have been a knife laceration." "We’re not sure, but it could have happened during the demonstrations today." "I would recommend you check the news, sir. That’s all I can tell you. Will you or someone else be coming in to speak on his behalf?" "The Norton Hospital in Louisville Kentucky." "The Emergency Room entrance is always open 24 hours." "No sir, just an ID."

I won't say "good luck" as this really is more skill than luck. Just do your very best.
