*I am now removing all Red Light cameras from all intersections*
As in my 3D city building project (in sketchup), I have been putting Red Light Cameras at newer intersections or when updating a intersection.
I am wondering what you guys think of real life Red Light Cameras. I am already thinking of removing them and doing the following :
1 Camera above the road (already exist) - When the camera see traffic waiting at a red light, it will check to see if it clear all other directions and if clear, will turn the light green.
2 (new) Camera would replace the red light cameras and be mounted high enough to see a good distance down the road so when a light turns red, all the lights are red (a "clearance" phase, were all directions are red) while during that time, the 2nd camera checks to make sure all cars are stopped on the one street (and no cars are at a speed which shows they will not stop) before giving the other street the green, which is all done in a few seconds.
I agree with that, I have seen reports that more accidents happened after the cameras were installed, plus just big money makers for the cities/towns they were installed in. As of right now, I am removing them from my city building project.
