I am back and all rested from my trip down to the state of California and my second time of Further Confusion. This actually felt much more like a continuation of Midwest Furfest considering we had all the same roommates as there plus one more, which is fine considering we had the room to spare in our suite. Since I don't have access to the schedule, and didn't pick up a hand held one I will try to recap as much as I can remember off the top of my head, which may or may not be fuzzy (no pun intended).
I had more fun this year than the previous year, and was able to experience new things that I haven't been able to before including my first time fursuiting and being able to participate in the parade! Other than that it was the usual con rounds, stopping by the convenience of the two roomed dealers den, and again I must've been very picky or thrifty because like at the previous con I didn't spend even a fraction of what I had budgeted, not that this is a bad thing, better to have more and not need it than less and walk away from something cool. I did pick up a couple of pre-made clip on badges from one of my favorites Spelunker Sal and also a couple of new books from Kyell Gold which I hope to complete before the next con I attend, and no furry shopping spree would be complete without again supporting my local friends at Contact Contact this time picking up some wax melts which have been great in making my den smell awesome.
This con as we deemed the "Warm up" con of the year did serve as a belated new years celebration for me considering I didn't want to celebrate prior and had to work the next morning. Like last year Fraddas and I hit up the party floor, and had fun drinking the night away at the communist party as well as the Klingon party. And after being a good/terrible feline friend and getting him drunk off his ass we decided to do our tradition of karaoke, where I preformed The sound of Silence by Distrurbed, and finished with a song I haven't preformed since Rainfurrest...Big Bottom by Spinal Tap. Myself and my roommates also hosted a great party, had some good Chinese food, drinks, and of course Jackbox and Cards Against Furmanity.
Panel wise this con like the previous was a bit dry for me, I did stop by a few briefly including dragging Fraddas back for another round of Artemis, in which this time I got to blow things up as the weapons position. The only other panel worth noting in which I stayed for the entire length was for my friend Stigmata on How to Create Mature Art as Therapy, which again he is very knowledgeable on and always great to pick his brain and listen to his experiences.
On the final night we all went out for our last meal as roommates and had sushi, where I chose an assortment of feline/lion titled rolls, all tasty and all fishy! And after filling our bellies we all returned to finish off our weekend at the Further Confusion Unleashed variety show. Anyways this con got me ready to go for the ones coming up ahead this year which I will keep you all updated on soon enough, and unlike FC I will return to my kingly tradition of registering as Supersponser levels, my trip to Cancun in December kinda prevented me from doing so at this con.
Overall this was a good starting point for the year, minus a few hiccups. Everyone got along which is a huge plus and sigh of relief, and I am already planning the next two ahead of this just biting at the chance to hang out with all you fuzzies once again!
