Retiring this username?

Sooo I've been thinking.

"dtcx97" is a really unfriendly artist tag and name, in my opinion. And I only use it to distinguish my NSFW stuff her from my SFW stuff everywhere, which is posted under the label "postcactus" or something similar.

I'm thinking of retiring and replacing it. With what exactly? I don't know yet.

Either I chose some other cactus related name (almostcactus is under consideration) and maintain that separation, or I just adopt "postcactus" for all my art.

On the flip side, literally every image aggregation site has me tagged as dtcx97 and it'd be annoying or potentially impossible to get them change that. Aaand I guess there's some value in the name now since I've been working under that alias for so long (lol)?

I dunno, just things on my mind. Would like to hear what y'all think, too.

I would prefer a memorable username. Something besides an arbitrary collection of letters and numbers XD

On Derpibooru they can alias your old artist tag to your new one, and do some database wizardry so the new shows up under the pic.

That's how it works here, too. Watchers are notified as well (by default), and the old name is preserved as a redirect for search and userpage link purposes. It was a lot to think about!

Yeah, that's a very neat system.

On Derpi username changes aren't allowed except for very special circumstances. Artist tags are just tags with an "artist:" prefix and some addition flags in the DB. You can link an artist tag to your Derpi username (and site URLs) but it's not mandatory. Since watches are applied to tags it works alright.

Not being able to alias usernames is a bit bothersome for comments and forum posts.

I would say keep both.. dtcx97 is well known in the fandom already. I once tried changing my alias to something else.. but people kept knowing me as sip and i guess they will always will :P

I say keep it because its yours.. change it if you dont like it :3
