I wonder...

On the topic of Zootopia:

Why is it always a world where humans never existed, or a world where they wiped themselves out and animals rose up to take their place through evolution?
There has always been the dilemma of some cartoon animals being more anthropomorphic than others, eg. Goofy and Pluto... well... what if its as simple as the humans having become the cartoon animals through genetic engineering? You know, because furries. Problem solved; Goofy is a human, descended from genetically engineered humans, and Pluto is an animal, by stint of evolution, and domestication by humans.

Thus, any humans who wipe themselves out in such a scenario are those that resist the change, and became the dwindling minority, that probably insists they are the superior species in complete disregard of the benefits of genetic engineering.

Zootopia is in the animal's world...Like there are some who refer to the Furry Fandom as the Furry Universe.

I think it's 'cause they don't want to have any 'heavy' background stuff like 'yeah, humans died out.' A bit much for a kid's movie, I'd guess?

One thing that does bug me is the "it's a world without humans" settings where it is human style architecture and worse still re-makes of famous artworks (like the statue David or the Mona Lisa for instance).

The first half of that Zootopia partially addressed, in that the architecture was not all human style and did come in different shapes and sizes to accommodate different sized and shaped species.

The second half Zootopia didn't directly address, but in general that's the darker thing that makes me thing "okay, well looks like there were humans and this is in the future of this world and they destroyed all the original art and made knock-offs featuring the anthros not the humans".  Historical revisionism basically.
