This first part TL;DR is just a rant about where i've been, in short i'm getting old. Skip to colored text for Shuna stuff.
Borderline Personality sucks.... Been medicated for years, off i'm unbearable on im a zombie but i dont ruin all my relationships and work life, so on is better. Going to check and see if i can get some new combination cuz yah ... zombie. Hitting midlife has also not made life any easier. I find myself wishing so badly that i could go back to believing in a god or fairies or anything that there is no evidence for. Fake it till you make it doesn't do it for me. I find i'm increasingly nihilistic about everything including Shuna, which is partly where my head has been. /end bitching.
But lately a few have picked up the torch and held it for me while i stumble around in the dark. So thank you for who you are.
The Codex Of Light as it's formally called, (the humans have started calling it the Holy Light) is a document that is unchanging yet added to. Every generations Ashunamir adds mir own chapter to the book in the form of a supplement. Most are short "autobiographies" containing accomplishments and minor law implementations. These laws often clarify the Codex's stance on ambiguous subjects and are not as binding as the Mother book, however there is very little crossover where a newer book contradicts an older one. These "Grafts" (as the humans now call them) rarely contain new revelations on future events or sweeping change of law. Though it has been known to happen. One famous case from recent history was the incident of Ashunamir Abbin Anuyetug's (Angelear) Graft.
Abbin was the last Ashunamir before the Vanduul came and their original printing was said to be lost to time after the invasion. As the Shunamir's technology quickly advanced a copy was said to be found in the ruins of the Ashunamir's Luminary, and once it was released to the warrens there was quite the buzz about what it contained. It seems that Abbin knew that other races would soon be appearing in Hush's skies and it explained that Hush was just one of a collection of innumerable mistakes the "gods" had made. That not only did the stars contain the ancestors of the Shunamir, but the ancestors of every race with seniance in the immeasurable galaxies that shine in the night sky. This news was perfectly timed with the arrival of the humans, a welcome book to fill in the gap. While the Shuna were feeling small in this new galaxy of unknowns they had pride and hope that their leaders were being led by divine paws.
Possessing any first drafts of Abbin's Graft is currently punishable by death.
This seeming for knowledge and insight has been a valuable tool in the Ascendants ability to keep peace and harmony among its people.
