I just had a Sad Thought (tm). Kids today will never know the simple joy of watching a VHS tape rewind and the unintentional humor therein (case in point. I hate to sound clickbaity, but #1 is fucking hilarious). It certainly changes the tone of Lion King, I can tell you. Especially that part where Simba is grieving over his dead father, when suddenly, a backward-stampeding herd of wildebeest violently un-tramples him before he does a Jedi leap up onto a nearby cliff and is pulled to safety by his evil-looking-but-surprisingly-helpful brother.
They also won't get to experiencing using casettes and floppy disks for storage, something that always felt special to me, especially floppies with the pleasant clunking of the drive. But what can we do, each generation gets to live something else, and I'm sure they'll have plenty of nice childhood memories as long as their parents know what they're doing =3
