Michael Sembello's Automatic Man is exactly the type of thing I wanted to highlight with the Lost 80's idea. It's so eighties-sounding I can practically see pink and silver asymmetrical triangles flying by. It's about a guy who builds a robot who steals his girl. It's by the guy who did Maniac for the Flashdance soundtrack. Plus a killer guitar solo, and an opening chant worthy to stand beside 'ooga chaka'. Seriously, I heard it for the first time tonight and am so in love I could pee.
Michael Sembello was an original member of Stevie Wonder's group Wonderlove. They share songwriting credit on "Saturn", track 1 of the bonus EP included with "Songs In The Key Of Life". :)
