I Hate Winter!

Welp, with winter in January came the usual snow and ice. And the usual slips and slides for clumsy ol' me. The day before the storm was scheduled to hit, I went and bought two new pairs of shoes (a brand called TredSafe), because my current ones, which I'd had since 2013, were really wearing thin. To to the point that my feet would get wet if I went out in the rain or stepped in puddles. Not wanting any more soggy socks, I got new shoes. Fine and dandy. And, this year, United Management II, the company that manages my apartment building, Cleveland Green II, salted the parking lot and sidewalks. So the snow comes. It stopped snowing, and a lot of it remained, along with icy patches on the pavement and asphalt. But the sidewalks here at Cleveland Green II were safe to walk on, due to the salt.

But, as I learned the hard way on Sunday, once I left the property, I was on my own, because the city or county or whoever apparently doesn't salt anything but the main roads. And so when I ran out of Dr Pepper, I decided to head to Speedway to nab a 2-liter, and after making it across the road and up a hill with no problems, I had to cut through the parking lot of Badcock & More, the furniture store across the street, which is where I got my couch (which I call Comfy Couch). I took about three steps before I found out Badcock & More didn't salt their parking lot, because I slid and fell. I wasn't seriously injured. As I fell, I turned sideways and threw my right arm out to catch myself. The worst that happened was I felt incredibly embarrassed and was glad nobody had seen me. I did, however, cut my thumb on the rough asphalt they put down a year or so ago, and, deciding not to continue on to Speedway, I returned home with my pride wounded and a big blob of frozen blob hanging off my right thumb.

In addition, my new shoes gave me a nasty blister on my left heel, which burst the following day. Ick. I'm fine now. Both "wounds" are healing, but a bit on the unsightly side. But I really frickin' hate winter. I really do. I can't wait until spring comes. Or at least until all this fucking snow and ice goes away.
