News about the car...

by
Just got off the phone with both the insurance and repair center. The car is ready but can't be picked up until Allstate sends me the check for the repairs and I can get the needed funds to pay the deductible and to get the power steering pump replaced (will be getting a certified mechanic to send Allstate an invoice to be reimbursed for the pump replacement as well as a detailed statement explaining how and why the pump was damaged in the accident). I am also going to file a complaint the states insurance regulator about Allstate's tactics and how they are treating me.

One good thing of note is that I scored two working flat panel TVs that someone tossed out prior to Christmas (a Sony 50" and a Sharp 32" both with no remotes). I am planning on selling the two TVs to a pawn shop once I get the car back and using what I can get for them to repay some of the donated funds. I also have some other items for sale down below.

Right now all I want is to get the funds to get my car back, and to get the power steering pump replaced. If that happens, I will do everything I can in my power to repay that kindness in spades, either by returning the money as I earn it, or by paying it forward to someone else who needs help.

And before anyone states the obvious, I have already started looking for a new insurance provider that will cover all damage from an accident. I can't rightfully support Allstate if this is how they treat their customers.

Quote from 12/19's journal:
I just got off the phone with both the service center where the car is getting worked on that the insurance won't be replacing the power steering pump stating that it was going out prior to the accident. I told the person in charge of the repairs that the power steering pump and steering was working perfectly up until the accident and afterwards, the steering would lurch to the left or right unexpectedly, the pump was whining and grinding loudly as well as going through well over 2 1/2 quarts of power steering fluid between the accident and when the car went into the shop. I called the insurance claims center to escalate the issue so that it can be fixed explaining to them that if the pump was already going out prior to the accident, it never gave any indication that it was. Thankfully it is going to be addressed tomorrow as the car would be unsafe to drive with a steering system that is leaking fluid badly and lurching at random moments. The agent I spoke to did agree that it is strange that if the pump was going out, it would have been giving signs long before the accident and not just starting massive leaking and steering badly immediately afterwards. Hopefully tomorrow or by the end of the week, we will know the outcome as the claims adjuster will be calling and talking to us personally before looking at the car.
I am trying to sell in order to raise the remainder of the $700.00 needed to get the car out of the repair center. The items are (from top to bottom)...

1. Franklin Mint Eagle Knives: $150.00 - $250.00
2. Italian Lead Crystal Decanter: $75.00 - $100.00
3. Antique Mantle Lamps: $50.00 - $75.00
4. Old School Cameras: $75.00 - $100.00
5. '40s Era Polaroid Camera Outfit: $225.00 - $300.00
I will cover shipping if in the continental US.

If I can sell all these by tomorrow, I can get the car out of the shop Tuesday or Wednesday. Please spread the word about this, I am thanking you and everyone here in advance.

More info can be found in this journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7972422/

Down below are links to the fundraisers I started to raise the needed funds for the deductible only. I am going to add that should the donations exceed the what is needed for the deductible, and depending on how much the donations exceed what is needed, I will pass the excess on to at least two people who can use the help for Christmas, Kids, etc.
GoFundMe
YouCaring
GiveForward

In order to make it easier, I am taking donations to my paypal ( my paypal is johnny_yuma1965@hotmail.com ) to make it easier and faster to make the deductible payment. I can also use some Ko-Fi

I've just been in an accident myself last Friday night.
Right after I got out of Wal-Mart, I was behind a woman in a 4x4 pick up truck at a traffic light that wouldn't change.
Then I saw the back-up lights come on on the pick up, and  truck began backing up...and it was one of those heavy duty, diesel, 4x4 trucks that sat high off the ground.
There was a car coming up from behind, so I couldn't back out of her way, so gave a long blast on the horn. The truck continued to back-up, so I went to repedtedly giving short blasts on the horn...That's when she hit my car as I watched the hood arch up.
Of course she got out saying, "OH! I'm sorry. I didn't see you back there".
Her bumper caught the hood, clearing over the front bumper, of my 2000 Chevy Prism.
Fortunately, the car is still driveable.
The hood is bowed up and has to be held closed with a piece of electrical cord tied around the bumper and the latch stirrup under the end of the hood.
The head lights are pushed in to where the beams cross each other (the left light shines on the right shoulder of the road).
The top of the radiator wall is pushed back barely touching the radiator, and the radiator is also tilted back...If she hit any harder, I think she would have taken the radiator out...There are no radiator leaks as far as I am aware of.

I am going to check with the police department today about the status of the accident...I haven't heard from the woman's insurance company yet.

Ouch
best thing to do is to get a dashcam, even one of the $20 models that Wal-Mart sells

I have one, but the battery was down at the time...Anyway, she didn't lie and try to claim I ran into her.

The one I have has a power cord that can be plugged into the lighter port
