The Best Walmart Experience Of My Life

So today is christmas eve.  my mother decides now to buy ingredients for christmas dinner, even though I had offered to do it yesterday.

So I'm already a little salty.  Walmart is already fucking terrible and on christmas eve?  Where it's slammed all day?  Yeah no, fuck that.  However, my mother tells me that there is a new walmart in town, and urges me to go there instead.  I shrug and decide to check it out.  When I get there, I notice it isn't the usual "Super" walmart that is in every other corner of town, but a "Neighborhood"  walmart.  Never seen one of these, so imagine my surprise when I find out it's a smaller Walmart, dedicated to grocery/food items.

I couldn't believe it at first.  It was fully stocked, quiet, the employees and customers were nice, and there were honest to god sales and discounts on products all over the place!

Seriously, I was able to find exactly what I needed on my list.  No substitutions, nothing out of stock, I GOT EVERYTHING I NEEDED.

Like, instead of people being grumpy and just trying to get their shit and go, people actually stopped to talk to each other, and it wasn't annoying or awkward, it was pleasant!  There was real customer service! In fact, in my own stupidity, I had forgotten my the debit card at home, so that meant I would have to leave my entire cart behind, go home and come back to pay for it all.  And guess what?  They actually held my stuff for me and waited for me to come back! (unlike the other walmart that just got rid of all my shit the last time this happened.

The employees actually looked like they wanted to work there and not like they wanted to kill themselves. They were nice and happy.

Despite my own error, that didn't subtract to my positive experience, only adding to it!

I had a huge dumb grin on my face the entire time I shopped there and was in a great mood when I got home.  I have never been able to say that about shopping at walmart before today.

Not even once.

Honestly, Supercenter wal-marts suck ass. I'm really glad you were able to find a  neighborhood walmart too! They're the best!

I live right around the corner from a neighborhood market. I love it there myself.

much better than the supercenter down the road. Hate the managers there (Especially after one of them got fired after yelling at some kid and his mother, going off on them)

Wal-mart employees that didn't look like they wanted to die? That's a hell of a step up from the usual, damn. As a retail worker, I can't even parse the concept of not contemplating suicide every shift. I really, really wish that was actually a joke :x

Yeah, one of those opened up in our neighborhood back in Houston several years ago, only went once but it was much smaller then even your old regular walmarts, doubt it was a coincidence it opened right across the street from the H.E.B though despite it being there for forever and still being bigger...hate walmart.

There's this quaint little Walmart in Arlington, TX, really close to the stadium.  If you're ever in Arlington, and you need to go to Walmart... find a different one.  This one is baaaaaaaad.  It's cramped, it's run-down, and it is anything but the awesome experience you had tonight.

Glad you had a good time and a safe journey.  Merry Christmas to you.

The experience you'd isn't a huge surprise, the Neighborhood Wal-mart stores are run like grocery stores. So yes, the employees like their jobs and people are friendly and helpful. The same atmosphere you find in a local Safeway/Krogers/Whole Foods/Trader Joes/Etc. or other type shop.

I'd much prefer any Walmart over the Dollar General close to my house.

One opened up in up north florida when I was visiting my family awhile ago. They live in a prettynrural area so everything's far. Thisnthing opened 5 miles or so down the road, and the prices were hella cheaper too. A couple weeks later everyone knew it was there and then things started to get bought out. It's nice now, but it turns intobthe same walmart afternsome time. It took only a month to make one in a small town nuts. Lol

I heard they started opening the neighbourhood ones and another one that's smaller like a convenient store.. i don't know of any locations and first time i've heard anyone talk about them.. that sounds much better... almost like sam's club..

to contrast our old walmart collapsed and they built a new super walmart.. it's actually worse if you could believe that...
