life update nov 2016

Cancer sucks.   0/10.   Would not recommend.

March 2015 is when it started...  found a fast growing, painful wart in an unmentionable area.    Took until July to see a doctor, but things went swiftly after that.  Got it removed in September.  Biopsy of the wart came back... was not a wart.  and in that same time, i found a second lump near where the first one was.

Back into surgery in November of 2015 to get the rest of it removed.  everything went smooth again.   the CT scan in November after my surgery showed me to be clean...   but in February of 2016, I found another lump. This time on a lymph node. CT confirmed it.   Round two, FIGHT.

So back in for another surgery in April of 2016, bilateral removal of pelvic lymph nodes.   Everything once again went smoothly, with only one small hiccup of in May.   when you get lymph nodes removed, lympatic fluid tends to build up in tissues, causing swelling.    i was wearing compression stockings to prevent buildup in my legs...   but other unmentionable areas didnt have compression options...    and then i got a strep infection.    but the thing about strep is it likes fluid-engorged areas....   normally the throat...   but i had other fluid laden areas.   spent 4 days in the hospital for that.

now, while i was in the hospital for that infection, i had the 3 month CT scan i was regularly scheduled for to make sure nothing came back.    it came up clean again, no reoccurances...

until i found another lump in September of 2016.   Round three...    yippie.

The CT i had in september measured the lump at 2.6cm...  a little over an inch in length.  talked with doctors and such, got plans...   but this time it wasnt as swift in and out like the last few surgeries.   The doctor qualified for the surgery was out of the country for a conference.   So now it is November of 2016.  i had a PET scan on the 12th...   in two months it went from 2.6cm...   to 7.8cm (about 3.5 inches).

as of yesterday, november 21st, i am now on T3s for the pain...   and i will find out on friday when my surgery date is.    it will be before the end of the year though, but this time i will have a minimum 3 month recovery time.

now, i am EXTREMELY thankful to be canadian...   as the only costs i have had for this entire process has been less than $1000...   and my job gives excellent benefits, so i wont be completely broke while recovering.

I will try to post updates when i remember..   but im terrible with this whole journal thing.
