Depressing update

Its been too long since I've posted an update. Honestly I'm not sure what to do anymore. I told myself when I first took this hiatus that it was only going to be for a few months. But three months went by and then six and then more. During all this time I haven't been able to do much other sketch here or there. There's several reasons for this, one working full time (and swing shifts) leaves me less time, second my current living situation isn't ideal for doing art, and last is just plan depression getting in the way.

Its been tempted to quit my job and try to go back to doing art but it was struggle to make ends meet and I it was harder to have a social life. One the problems that doing nothing commission art was didn't do much personal art. But to also be honest I worry that doing just adult artwork might be limited my chances at more commercial work (but maybe that's pipe dream).

I still don't answer and any idea what I'll be doing soon, but I thought you all deserved an update anyways.

On side note part me is very sad as it feels that I'm slowly losing touch with the community and all the friends that I made here.

Thanks, my biggest challenge trying to figure out what I want, I tend to get easily overwhelm by all the choices of what I want and what I need to do.

all ya need to do is take a deep breath and sort it out in your mind, if need be write it down on a piece of paper on what you want and determine the outcome. talking to others about it can help to, people cant tell you what to do but they can help you if your having a difficult time. don't let it stress you out to much, if you get stressed out what I do is I take a deep breath, I breathe in and I feel all the stress collect in my lungs and when I breathe out all the stress goes with it, doing that helps clear your mind, just focus your stress in your breath like I do and breathe it out. then either write it down or talk to others about it, talking is a bit less stressful in my eyes ^^

Maybe you could try Patreon? I know a few artist that make a living off of it, and they mostly draw personal art. I think any way. I don't see them doing many commissions and they make plenty to get by.

I did and it was working for awhile, but currently I can really support it.

I know that life isn't easy on you and you have little time for anything but work, yet try to stay in touch with those you consider close friends, at least.
Talking to them will reduce depression, I know what I'm talking about. Been once in a deep depression for 3 month doing literally nothing, living as a vegetable, if not for my friend and sis, I'd be dead.
I don't want to see a great artist and a good person like you to fade away for no reason.
*hugs tight* I may be not much of a friend to you, but I'm always happy to help and chat, if you ever need.

We're here for you bud.  I know a few months ago you chose your well-being over free time, but as I've seen some other folks literally run themselves into the ground because they chose the well-being of others over themselves.  There's going to be a point, and I think you're near that point, where your health (mental, physical, both) has to take priority.
Money is replaceable - your health isn't, at least not nearly as easily.

Very true, I've taken a few steps to try to fix that, but its such slow moving process that's annoying.

*Sigh*

I know the feeling about losing contact. In the spring of 2013, the place I worked went out of business; since then, I've all but lost contact with:
- a choir I sang with for almost two decades
- the local amateur radio club
- a drum circle I've been going to since 2004
- and a band I'd just been playing for about a year before the business closed.

The main reason? I found a new job, doing inventory. Hours are not heavy, but when those hours happen, they're completely nuts.

I'm glad this community (even though my presence is pretty spare) isn't as limited by times and dates.

I've no answers for things, just need to do what most people do, keep stepping on.

It seems you aren't the only one who is on hiatus, there is a good chunk of people I used to watch who are MIA or just quiet.  You gotta do what makes you happy though, depression is a big black beasty that likes to follow you around and slowly drag you down.  It's insidious, quiet, and patient. If I knew a way to beat it, I wouldn't have my own shadow, but we just keep on keeping on and that seems to keep it at bay at least.

As a great mind once said... "You do you, boo".. Find something that gives you a bit of joy and latch on to it, consequences be damned.  Probably horrible advice, but I'm still breathing so that's a thing, eh?  :P

Sorry if I'm babbling, but the topic always makes my mind run on.  No one has any real answers for you, because no one knows exactly what you are experiencing.  Things you can count on though, real friends will still be friends no matter how long you are on hiatus.  The community may/will change, but there will always be artists and writers out there.  Finally, as long as you find a way to get outta bed, it's already a decent day.

No problem, I'm just happy that I'm getting a lot response from all of you. I have found a local gaming group that been helping some as well.

Nope we're still here for you ... And I know far to well how working a full-time job digs into your art time and free time.  Just don't forget you have friends here and there who are here for you.
If nothing else throw me a   HEY  on chat sometime and we can just BS

Stay frosty and safe ,  And will talk at you soon bro

If you need a hiatus for persional/ finacial reasons, that's perfectly understandable. EVERYONE has to do these things.

it's pressures like this that make being an artist so stressful yet it's odd that normally only other artists seem to notice it.
I feel ya man ... I quit my job because it left me with 2 free hours a day and most of that was used to eat. But afterward I was just too depressed from everything to get back to arting hardcore ... and well I'm still in a bit of that slump so.. I know how you feel. I sadly have no good advice to give ... all I can say is hang in there, and while we're not super close or anything, you got a friend in me XD

Do what you feel like is best, That's the only way too become better, and your health is more importer then what people think about you.

We still love you. I, myself have been trying to balance both, work and personal art. I bring my sketch book with me so whenever I have time at work, I draw. But, I also don't draw porn so... I guess that's not much of an option for you. I know I have less of a social life because of my art/project focus, but I also try to defeat depression by having myself surrounded by friends as I work on art and know that a success, no matter how small, is a step into a positive future.

I'm in a similiar boat myself.
I haven't been connecting with my art or the community as much these past months and sometimes it gets to me.

The shining light in this is that I've developed a new hobby which I've been enjoying very much. I started playing guitar/writing music.

Maybe finding an alternative hobby would be helpful for you? (Something constructive/creative so I wouldn't count games for this suggestion really)
