Am I a fool?

So, I work in a job where I must have a blood alcohol content of 0. (they don't do tests before work though)

I started drinking at night, I haven't had much sleep, can't sleep still, my boss said he wanted me to work in the morning but I called in and said I can't.

Am I a fool?

My boss sends me to the hospital (we are contracted there) and if any staff report me (which I have been, where the boss said I'd have a few days off, but then turned around a few hours later after a few heavy drinks said I was working again) I'll be reported, possibly lose my job, maybe even cops getting involved.

I don't know if I should of just went in tired and tipsy or not, but I just pissed off my boss with cancelling my shift there...

This is doing me a concern.

Sounds a bit fascistic to force you to go to the hospital imo.
You're not allowed to just catch the flu, having eaten something bad or get a cold?
I wouldn't go to any hospital unless I was sure I needed meds prescribed, and that's with close to free healthcare, yet I would still call in sick if I woke up and felt like complete shit.

I think you misread. my shift is at the hospital and law states 0 blood alcohol for my job, if I get caught I will be in big trouble, think I might be over driving limit right now and I'd have to drive there.

My boss was just being a lazy jerk and made me say yes to a 6am shift while i was drunk. He can do his job better and get someone else.

called me at 9pm to do 6am shift, I was drunk and kept saying no, but I caved after he kept asking.

i would call him back and explain that it would be illegal since your job requires you to be 100% clean... you were intoxicated when they asked you to drink and you didn't really know what you were saying XD

Explain that u had the day off and u were unwinding when he called u. Dispatch used to call us all the time for security work and some of the guards would straight up say they were drunk. Once I told them I was high and it was ok. (Was a small company and I knew the dispatcher)

Just tell him "sorry, I can't do that extra shift". There's nothing wrong with declining.
