And it is called Drugs. Illegal Street Drugs with many names, claiming to be safe and legal...
Let's rewind to about 2014... A group of 20 guys from 20 - 38 years of age hang out in front of my building where I live every day. They drink, smoke tobacco, and drugs (smoke, snort and inject), every day. They have been doing this since their teens, and when I go to school or work, at times as early as 5:30 in the morning, and get home from 3PM to 10PM, they were still there, doing their thing, and their drugs. They have been harassing women here for as long as I known, yet they got their girlfriends pregnant and are trying to do the right thing by supporting their families. But they fail Drug Tests and get fired, end up on welfare for while until they get another job and they work for a while and get drug tested, failed and get fired again... it is a cycle.
These are not fat slobs, they are buffed up individuals who exercise and lift weights, at times in front of the building. They often challenged each other as to how many push up or pull ups one can do. And though their actions in taking drugs say they are stupid, they are quite intelligent. It is just the Drugs have a higher priority in their lives. Because of that they never went past college, only high school and most got a GED. They tried to show off to my girls, only to be laughed at by my girls.
But one by one, they have been dying. All have been found dead at home, many of them died in their sleep. They sit, watch TV, have a beer and maybe a meal like dinner, close their eyes and never wake up. Autopsies for them all say the same thing - Congestive Heart Failure - an old Person's Disease.
Why? I'm not questioning it as to who they are or had respect for them. I did have respect for them as people but I never hung out with them because they do drugs. I'm asking why as to what is the connection in all their deaths. By right they should be around for another 30 - 40 years because they exercised.
The answer is the drugs they are using is weakening their hearts. Pot, Cocaine, Heroine, Alcohol, and their derivatives... Synthetic Pot (aka: K2, K9, etc...), Crack, Snowball, etc, etc, etc...
One just died last Friday, his name was Gil. I remember seeing him Friday afternoon and he like everyone else in the hood bitched about Trump winning the election. Then he went home, had dinner, watched TV, fell asleep on the couch and hours later his little girl went to wake him up, finding his body cold and still. I feel sorry for the girl.
Of the group, there is 3 left.
They are scared as to who is next. Theories of a Bad Spirit walking about the building is spreading as 9 of these guys died this year, almost 1 a month.
There is an eerie quiet in the building. And I, like I have always been, walk alone and do my thing to stay alive.
I do not care what one does in life, I do not care what is one's gender or preference there of. All I ask is if you are doing drugs, please stop. I do not want to hear that one of you died young from an Old People's disease.
