My thoughts on the Green and Blue Lights For Vets and Cops

When it comes to the green light for vets, I find the gesture empty and pointless. The same with the blue light for cops. People say it's to show honor, but honor can be better shown than by putting a colored bulb in your porch light. Want to show honor to vets? Then help at a local homeless shelter or veterans center. Heck taking time out of your day to help a local vet with something like doing errands shows more honor than a stupid green bulb. Want to honor cops? Not breaking the law is a start. Heck get with others on your street and form a neighborhood watch to help report crime better is a whole lot more useful to a cop than a stupid blue light. These lights do as much good as typing "amen" on Christian FB posts, which is a whole lot of nothing.

If you still want to go with the gimmick and show this empty gesture, then do yourself a favor and stick with your everyday white porch light bulb and put colored cellophane on the porch light. Colored light bulbs are only produced in low wattages, so that paired with green or blue glass makes a light that is too poor to see by; and can pose as a safety risk at night since the poor illumination can conceal trip hazards and unscrupulous characters.
