Oh the sweet, sweet Salt....

I made what i felt was the best decision I could in regards to the 2016 electrion and people I liked on IB have apparently blocked me for it O_O

you people do realize the DMC screwed themselves over and that's the only reason trump won right? You also realize that the electoral votes picked the president not the popular vote?

regardless of were you stand what you believe or who you voted for if you choose not to be friends with somebody over a Political difference... please take a short walk off a tall cliff. that is absolutely insane, the people you knew before the election are still the same people. There were many reasons to vote for Hillery OR Trump and meny reasons to vote against either one of them

what makes America special is also whats made this election so divisive, i honestly hope we never see a repeat of this mess. There was no good vote.

For anybody who cares my first and only pick was Bernie Sanders. When the DMC fucked him over I was left with precious few options sell my soul or take a chance.

Now be adults and unblock your friends, or be children and don't, if your going to have a fucking break down over political difference of opinion, then your probably gobbling down every stupid thing the media has said about EITHER candidate and you really shouldent be having the discussion to start with.

now can we all PLEASE get off the topic of Politics, it's fucking toxic.

so we are supposed to forget that a whole bunch of what are basically armed domestic terrorists want to strip us basic freedoms and a large vocal portion that do actually want us dead for being deviants?
KevinSnowpaw

Nobody I know wants to strip anybody of anything and we still have laws in this country you cant just hurt people becouse of there belifs. This is a Knee jerk reaction and it's not something to worry about and if it DOES become something to worry about I will be one of the first people to speak out against it.

Don't feel bad...I had lost some watches last month because I was giving everyone notice of the hostile tensions that started between the U.S. and Russia over the Syrian crisis. The media was not reporting it back then, and it could have gone into WW3.
It was a very dangerous situation globally, with a risk of nukes being involved, back in October...The public was not being told by the main stream media.

You're not spelling it right, and also you should follow your own advice on not acting up over things, that might be part of why many blocked you.
KevinSnowpaw
7 years, 5 months ago
I diddent act up, i've tried to be a voice of reason over this entire thing in fact i've made precious few comments on the election at all, except to express disdain for both the candidates, there's people blocking people BECAUSE of how they voted..which is just crazy. It's an Election we have one every four years.

Any "voice of reason" is interpreted by the reader. It's open to ridicule and such, people just think you were being anti whatever. In politics it's either you're supporting him or her, and if you support neither...well you're just not supporting ME.

Politics is just stupid xD *pats*
TwoTails

I meant you have a history of openly stating opinions that most people know is best to keep to themselves then saying things like "if you don't like my opinion then fuck you"
That's almost like going into a gang ruled hood and yelling what you think is wrong with them.
The aggravation is of your doing, if you do it you should expect backlash.
KevinSnowpaw
7 years, 5 months ago
thats a fair point but I also feel that if we all just sit around silent becouse we FEAR backlash or a differance of opinion then importent things never get said, and the only voices we here are the echo chambers.

but thank you I don't believe I should be blocked for making it.

Don't confuse liberals with leftists. The left has hijacked the word liberal. These days an actual "liberal" is closer to being a moderate between the parties, or more likely a libertarian.

Well said, bun.  I spent a lot of this week commiserating and consoling people, some of whom were (honestly) scared, depressed, angry... but I also took time to talk with people I know who supported the president-elect (some of them very begrudgingly) to try and understand their motives, what they saw, what they wanted.  Without boring people to death, I found a range of reasonable responses, fears, hopes, goals.  And thankfully none of the fringe ugliness or hatred the media was all too happy to trumpet over and over and over.  I want whoever is elected to succeed because we need them to as a country, if not as individuals.

One of the great tragedies of our time is that we've willingly divided ourselves as a people, each living, working, thinking and tweeting within the warm, fuzzy safety of our respective bubbles.  But those bubbles pop the moment we walk out our doors--into that pesky "real" world--and talk with, work for or hug the very next human being we see.

Identity politics and idealism are fine, noble, worthy.  But if that's all you have going for you, you'll be spending large, oscillating chunks of your life in misery.  There's so much more to life.  Take a deep breath, un-whiten your knuckles, set aside your grievances for a few moments and reach out to people.  Especially those in the other bubble.

Maybe one day, they'll merge, if only modestly.  That's all it really takes.

Yeah in the end I voted trump for several reasons none of them being support for the Alt Right movement or any of that crap.

My voteing history so far has actualy been far more pro democrate then republican XD

meny people voted trump for three reasons these reason have little to do with trump himself and are ultimately what wont it for him.

Alot of trump supports are disenfranchised Obama supports upset with things about his presidency they disliked or felt wronged by. case in point obama care has not been great for everybody.

the second reason is a large number of working class Americans have felt like they were being ignored the last 8 years and so switched support.

and last and in my opinion most substantial, the DMC did everything they could to feed the hillery for president pipe dream right out of the gate short of actual voter fraud against Bernie sanders, who had more approval and in the poles at the time a better chance of victory over trump. when that little stunt came to light a LOT of Bernie supports straight up SHIT LISTED hillery and voted trump as a vote AGAINST her candidacy.

I feel these reasons contributed to trumps victory..if anything he is a symptom of a larger problem.

but it's importent we all take a deep breath and do what we can.

if you dont want the Republicans in control of everything thats fine you can vote on seniters every year, VOTE =p

"Alot of trump supports are disenfranchised Obama supports upset with things about his presidency they disliked or felt wronged by. case in point obama care has not been great for everybody."

I was really quite shocked--and was not alone!--to learn how many people from the Rust Belt who voted for Obama voted for Trump.  You would think the two candidates to be mutually exclusive in terms of appeal, but of course they weren't.  Americans usually vote their pocketbook and Obama offered auto bailouts, heath care programs, education credits, things that might have tangibly helped such people.  Hillary offered maternity leave, whereas Bernie and Trump visited dozens of times talking only about jobs, uneven trade agreements, jobs, building infrastructure, jobs, free college, jobs and also jobs.  Something about jobs too.  I did not understand the language Bernie or Trump were speaking but a lot of others did.

your just takeing what you perseeve to be the moral high round on this and it's just poitless condemnation. All im hereing from you is "You should have voted hillery regardless of your felings becouse Good and bad, black and white." if it was that simple I would have had little issues with this election.

trump is a deeply flawed human being. I belive Hillery to be worse.
BunnyFoxglove
7 years, 5 months ago
lol.... and you wonder why people blocked you?

When have you known me to blindly follow popular opinion? You voted for someone because you didn't like the opposition, rather than voting to keep your nation out of the hands of a bigot who wants to set the country back 100yrs. This isn't a moral high-ground, it's common sense.

You voted for the guy who opposes what a lot of your friends have been fighting for over the last 50-100yrs. Equal rights.

This should have been a no-brainer. The rest of the world is still shaking their heads, trying to figure out how he even got on the ballot to begin with.
KevinSnowpaw
7 years, 5 months ago
I diddent see any evidence to support trump wants to snatch rights away from women or gays >.> and you've done nothing but insult me and act like im crazy pro trump in my support. I very nearly DIDDENT vote for him. in the end I did becouse I've watched Hillery be to slimy for my tastes. shes changes her stance all the time, I cant trust her...and shes in support of some things I feel could hurt my way of life.

this is America not Imperial age England, trump is not king, we can counter his crazy by shifting control of the senate to Democrates...this is a complicted issue and it was a very ugly elction.

the entire point behind this journal is to encurage people to stop hateing on others for there voteing choice..it's devisive, counter productive down right mean unamerican and not as black and white is Team Trump or Team Hillery.

I dont know you to jump blindly into things, but I do know you to be allmost relgiously Liberal at times. So maybe take a step back and consider I DONT support everything he says, but maybe there are reasons To vote for him anyway? one of those being a presidency were I dont have to avoid the ooze comeing off Hillery Clinton when i step outside in the morning.

I cant stress enough I dislike him and hillery both but at the end of the day I waighed the pros and cons to the best of my knowledge on the issue at hand and took a chance on trump knowing exactly what I would get under hillery.

The only reason that would lead me to blocking someone for voting for Trump is because of the excessive use of terms like "Libtards" and "Sweet tears". It's petty and doesn't show the maturity needed to back up your voting choice. I'm from the UK and would consider myself a Liberal Democrat, which naturally makes me anti-Trump.

Even though I don't actually live in America, Hillary supported alot of my progressive interests, while Trump is basically going to reverse America back to what it was like in the 50's. I found the email scandal concerning at most, so that was hardly a deciding factor, and the claims of Hillary being a compulsive lier meant nothing compared to the actual facts http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/lists/people/c...
KevinSnowpaw

Ironically, I hope Trump was just bullshitting this entire time to get votes. It was the plan he explained back in 1988, when he said "If I were to run, I'd run as a Republican. They're the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they'd still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific." (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZpMJeynBeg) That he used in this election, so he clearly knew his audience, and scare mongering with the email scandal was like put a 2 and 2 together.

the choice you have there in america is just so special. you only have repulicans and democrats. thats it. no other party. just 2. Wow. just wow. Of course no one would agree to change it that there would be a higher number of political parties. Alone in germany we got a few new ones. Classics are the CDU/CSU. Which are sort the Christian-unions. The SPD for the social part. then during the years more did appear. Like Die Grünen because of the Ecostuff. Die Piraten for the youth. People who want free internet for everyone. The AfD who first had been against the Euro-Curency and wanted it to be removed only to evolve into a right-fraction which are against Islam, Gay people. And of course some guys who are not a political party yet, which think that Germany is not a country, but a company, which is still under the controll of the US and the Sovjets, because we own a Personalausweis and it reads Personal which means you would be employed. Uhm. ..yeah. And you have a führerschein so you can official lead someone after you did learn how to drive. WHAT?!  only worse are the turks with erdogan. He is the true hitler sort of. Since he removes every political party which is in his way. The whole world is fucked up right now.

AxleFurret

I have to agree with most you said there... Though politics are only toxic for people that can't handle politics or don't understand politics. Politics only become toxic when it is treated as a "my team Vs. your team" mentality instead of as an "agree to disagree" type discussion.

Though yeah, I never thought I would see the left become more extremist than the right with the whole DNC thing (what the Clintons and the left side media did to Bernie should be criminal) and the leftist media trying to rig the election and brainwash everyone, even the right side establishment was against him... And Trump has a history of supporting and voting for Democrats as well, so we may actually have a more moderate or libertarian type in the white house for a change.

At this point we are along for the ride, love him or hate him or don't give a shit, this is the first non-politician Anti-Establishment President we have had in decades so things should be interesting to say the least. Hell, Russia already wants to be friends for the first time in a century now when they were preparing for war just a few days ago, so good things are already happening.

agreed. I didn't care for either candidate, and despite the fact that I preferred Trump over Hilary, I'm still terrified at the prospect of him being president. That said, what's done is done. They both would have had issues and things that we need to wary of. Now, one of them has won and we need to start preparing for what that means. - Mass surveillance and monitoring of the populace in Trump's case. To continue bickering about something that is already said and done is pointless and stupid.

Under Trump we have to be concerned about thought-crime and losing our freedom in exchange for security. As horrible as that is, it is still preferable to the potential war with Russia that likely would have ensued under Hilary.

this is what im talking about.. you DO realize theres a SHIT TON of propaganda and crap talking about each on BOTH sides right? Hillery is extreamly vile every bit as nasty as trump, you just have to dig a little deeper to find it. Unlike trump who is a more or less open book, hillerys got 20 years of practice hideing her slime.

I didn't vote because both[the only two candidates because third party doesn't exists at all in the media] candidates were complete crap this time instead of the usual crap, which has lead to vitriol AND EVEN BULLYING (on other sites) because neither is likable at all.  I would have voted for a third party, but my vote wouldn't have counted because of the winner take all delegates system in all but two states and my state was not one of the swing states, so its outcome was already decided.  I do feel that is something that needs to be modified, and would increase voter turnout if more people could feel that their vote counted more towards getting a delegate.

I am sick of hearing all the FUD, hate, etc.  about both candidates, and how either would end the world or completely destroy the country if elected.  It is absolutely ridiculous and does not help any discussion (and frankly makes the one saying it look foolish.)

I have posted the part of George Washington's Farewell Address http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/washing.asp where he warned against political parties.  This last election shows exactly why he was correct.  We need to get off of group think mobs and think for ourselves.
