Yesterday's reveal was hard on a lot of people. And I hate to feel like I'm fear monger, but we are very scared.
I was up all night last night with my wife, fighting through panic attack after panic attack, worrying that each one might get bad enough to trigger a TIA. Thank god none of them did, but that's only because she took double doses of her meds to get through the night.
As a result she has one day of medication left today instead of the two we expected. And the panic hasn't faded even though she finally got a couple of hours of sleep. I'd like to get her a bit more than a week to help her get through this adjustment period. I'm shooting for $160 for her meds.
On top of that, the cat's $63 payment is due on the 14th, and the $500 car payment is due on the 19th. We lost our car insurance last month and are unable to get more at the moment, so the car is undrivable legally.... we have no choice and are driving it anyway. Public transportation around us is expensive and crappy.
We need help. We need HOPE. It's so dark for us right now, a Jewish disabled woman and a disabled, transgender man. We're looking at losing our medical coverage which has at least been providing MY blood pressure medication. We're looking at my very rights being revoked because I haven't been able to afford to change the marker on my license from F to M. We're looking at my wife's grandmother's prediction that "they've come for us before and they'll do it again" might actually come true in our lifetime.
We need hope. Hope strengthens, fear kills. We need more hope and less fear. We need to know that despite the fact that more than half of the people who voted yesterday think we're worthless, not everyone does. We need to know there are those out there, better off than us, who can help make this terrifying time a little easier.
