Furry paradoxes...

http://spiderdasquirrel.tumblr.com/post/149384602109/m...

This is something that has rubbed me for a while now... People in this fandom seem to have no reservations whatsoever of drawing NSFW work of iconic characters such as Renamon and Sonic all the way down the spectrum to Peppa Pig! (SERIOUSLY! Google it! There is R34 of PEPPA PIG!) To that end, there is no shortage of people consuming said works ravenously. And from what I've been able to tell, not a single one of these artists seem to care what the IP holders have to say about it.

I'm not saying I'm without sin. Quite the opposite. Back in the day, I drew my fair share of Renamon. But my confusion comes from people who have SFW characters that they CHOSE to introduce to the fandom who then have the gall to complain when they see NSFW artwork of them. Buddy, you KNEW the group of people you were introducing that character to. And you DIDN'T expect this? Are you that dense?

If characters from a children's cartoon aren't immune, even CHILD characters from a children's cartoon, then why should your character?

The only way to guarantee immunity is to not introduce that character. Plain and simple.

I always use characters I've created anyway. For me to fan-art a character that was not of my creation is rare.

commercialized characters are one thing, but when it comes to members of the furry community, getting art (especially nsfw) of someone else's character (especially characters meant to directly represent their owners) without their permission is kind of a major faux pas

Like I said in the second paragraph; these people KNEW the community they were introducing their characters to. Whether or not the character is supposed to represent the creator is inconsequential. You wouldn't introduce and then leave your 10yo daughter to a biker gang, would you? More likely, you'd deny HAVING said daughter. With fictional characters, trusting the IDEA of your character to this fandom is tantamount to the biker gang...

Your opinion may be different, but I really think you need to keep a character that is supposed to represent yourself (or a loved one) to yourself or close friends.

Or just don't get overly attached to a fictional person.

same, when I introduce my characters to the public I kind of figured as much as they would be fair game, be it from my video games or for my comic books o.o

It's the rule of the internet.
If you are on the internet, you must expect this.

I think the most important ones are these:

One can ask the other to stop, but do not expect it.

Mostly because corporations tend to be doing it for profit. There is little-to-no personal involvement.
Yuka Imai doesn't care what you draw of Renamon (no, really) because it's not meant to be her.
In fact in Germany, I understand it's voiced by a man.

In furry fandom, people often get personally involved and represented by their characters.
Using them in sexual content can feel like a violation, just as powergaming can in RP.
It'd be like writing a story where they stalk you or someone else in your family and then rape them.

Something I posted got GreenReaper's attention! This is an honor. :D

But in response to your argument, I'm going to refer back to what I said to Greyslayer's comment earlier. You don't entrust something you love (or is an extension of you or a loved one's identity) to a group of people with a SIZABLE population of deviants and then be surprised when someone perverts that... You should always HOPE the best of people, but expect the worst.
