IB POS system revival?

I wonder if the code behind IB's point-of-sale system still works in theory.  It would be nice to be able to gate content to specific users on a per-submission basis by granting the users view tokens while retaining the same old bookshelf stuff of the past @w@

The main thing these days is determining how to prove payment on IB, but having free tokens takes the responsibility for customer management and gives it to the person handling the submission.  I was looking at e-junkies since that's the only POS site I know that still accepts adult products, and it's pretty outdated and doesn't really have a good API to hook into.  I really miss the inkbunny system TwT

Hmm, did stuff like bitcoins ever get popular enough for something like this?
I've never actually found out if it is stable or widely accepted, in reality anyway, seemed to be alot of hype.

People prefer easy & common options to buy stuff, having to setup another purchasing method to just buy art feels to me like a turn-off. Something where they can simply dump funds from multiple sources would be nice.

It would help us almost professional hurting artists have better luck selling things like art packs & comics since everyone doesn't have the luxury of being able to set up websites or good enough to get onto a paysite system.

Maybe? I guess the issue there is it makes the site even more of a target, what with the number of bitcoin breakins over recent months and years, but perhaps no more than other payment processors. There's an infrastructure developed out there now, which wasn't the case five or six years ago.

From a site perspective, we're doing OK now through a variety of donation mechanisms. It's hard for artists, though - and frustrating, because all they want to do is be paid for their work. It'd be nice if PayPal would lighten up there.

You know, it's interesting. What with the way Patreon managed to convince them that they in particular were very low-risk for chargebacks, maybe there's some possibility there in the future. But I guess if IB has donations and Patreon exists, there's not a ton of reason to spend that much time and resources on such a thing, is there? Mm.

I'm surprised that patreon manage to get them to swing that way but they must have had a pretty large bait because nobody else managed to do that and patreon isn't even a long-term sustainable project platform for most people  ' ^ '

We removed the infrastructure for this recently; it'd need to be reimplemented - and to be honest, it's not been a priority. There are many players in the market who will be able to draw more traffic and have better margins than we do, and we're more interested in being on the promotion side than transaction processing.

Furry Network recently provided an example of what happens if you let concerns about what payment processors will accept drive decisions about what content you will allow. Furry sites aren't big enough to ignore their concerns - we don't make enough money for them to be willing to stick their necks out.
