Video games you'd want remade?

I'm 40 and I've lived through the techno age in the sense of seeing video games evolve from the Atari up to modern games we have today so I often look back on games I used to love playing which I can't play any more because newer versions of windows and drivers won't work with them any more and wonder what they would be like if they were made using today's tech. I'm sure all of you out there who were gamers have some game you can think of that you loved and miss playing, even if the graphics were crappy compared to what we have now. It might also be more than the graphics that needed an upgrade, perhaps they had clunk controls or other mechanics which todays games have straightened out.

Either way, if you could pick ONE game from your past to have remade today for our newer systems, what would it be?

Please keep in mind it doesn't even have to be the same style of game it was back then, here's my example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSCOaowF2UI

Metal Fatigue was just a simple real time strategy game like many others which were released around that time as that was what was big then (2000) but what made it stand out for me were the com-bot battles. Here you have tanks and jets and huge robots shooting at each other and suddenly you zoom in on 2 of these com-bot fighting, your com-bot is armed with a shield and sword while your opponent has a energy bade and lazer. The two are in melee so they are swinging away at each other when suddenly they lock blades and start wrestling a bit before one puts their foot on the other and shoves them away. You take a final slice at them and take them down when suddenly their back up arrives, a fast com-bot with energy saw blade hands who takes both of your arms off in a few hits before killing you. Your back up nails them with a few missiles before finishing them off with a punch to the face and then drops their normal hand arm to pick up one of the enemy energy saw arms to use that tactic against them. The com-bots ACTUALLY battled like this! Not the usual WoW shit fights we all got used to where they just have 2 swinging their sword animations they repetitively did, they actually locked swords and fought! Its not that big a deal in this sort of game really but when was the last time you ever zoomed in on 2 characters in these games and watched them fight it out during a big multi unit battle?

Now skip ahead a few years to say Gears of War and the chain saw fights you'd get into with the enemy, how cool was that the first time you saw is? Metal Fatigue was doing that 6 years before GoW was released.

I'm not saying that one feature made the game great but it made it stand out for me at that time and I can only imagine what it would be like with today's tech and multiplayer. Some thing like titanfall but with cars and jets flying around at the same time and your fighting under ground and in space as well as on the ground at the same time.

PLEASE don't go into this level of detail in your comments as they'll be walls of text, just let me know what game you thought was cool that would be awesome if it was remade now. Why? Because it would be funny as hell to take some little known game by some company that went out of business years ago and remake it into the next big thing.

I know you said one but for entertainment purposes I have two. Mario Party 7 and Mario Kart Double Dash because those were the only two nintendo series I actually liked b4 they remastered and ruined them. actually Mario Kart 8 is kool but I wish we'd have retro games section like retro courses in Mario Kart, or just remaster Mario Party 7 all together

I would have to say Vagrant Story. It's a PS1 RPG oldie that had a unique battle system and story. I particularly loved the battle system, because you can attack the enemy's head, either arms, torso, and either legs, and how much damage each body part sustains effected how the enemy performs in battle. You aren't going to find another battle system like that in today's RPGs.

Final Fantasy 8. If I got two, I'd add 6 as well, but of the two, I prefer 8.

Games like in the classic SSI times. Like Pool of Radiance or Secret of the Silver Blades and such. Where you have like a team of 6 or 8, which you move in turns and you have the fun in drawing your own maps. So not automatic map drawing. And games like Xcom show that games like those can be still fun. Specially if you involve some interaction between the characters, according behaivour to races. Like if you put a dwarf and an elf together in a team, there will be some disputes at the beginning and depending how you behave towards them you may loose them or harden the bond between them, making them good partners. That part was what I did like at the Silver Blades Saga. You had your NPC's react to eachother, which was sometimes hilerious. Think of you have in Fallout 4 not one, but like two in your team. Like Danse and Strong. Or Danse and Decon. they would be so at the throat on eachother at the beginning, only then to see later also the benefits, having to think to change their attitude.

StarOcean games.
There are just so many I would love to see remade. But these are the top of the list, for sure.

One classic game I loved as a kid (and even now I still play it) is Legend of the Dragoon. While it was a Final Fantasy clone, it had enough of it's own charm and unique story to gather a cult following. Not to mention the badass Dragoon transformations...
